I have aquired 17th Century Biblical Antiques

Hello Dear Friends,

Out of my excitement I wanted to share that in an auction I won two 17th century Catholic biblical texts with commentary/addition from clergy and poets. They are both in French, sadly I cannot read French but I find them all the more interesting and more of a mystery. I have no idea what to do with the two texts but I was planning on sharing them with the priests of the local Latin Catholic Church in my area. I feel like they would take great interest in such antiques.

Text 1: (1741) Commentaire littéral sur la Sainte Bible by Fr. Louis de Carrières
Text 2: (1762) Les Pseaumes Et Les Principaux Cantiques Mis En Vers Par Nos Meilleurs Poetes by Desaint & Saillant

Cool!!! I have never possessed an antique like those so I can’t really give any advice. They are definitely something to treasure.

Wow, from the mid-1700’s! Amazing how books can survive the ages.

I think old books are awesome. To know others, before you, have read those pages, thought their thoughts, prayed their prayers…it’s like a spiritual connection.

I’m sure those Latin Priests will be blessed as they turn those pages.

Ah that’s embarrassing, you are right it is 18th century and seventeen hundreds. I was thinking of that concept when I was typing the post, don’t know how I made that mistake and thanks I’ll look over the text some more and see if I have any questions.

I can probably help; it’s in “old” French (sort of our equivalent to Shakespeare’s English) so it would take some work but I could help answer questions.
