Wow… thanks for all of the responses.
Yes… you are all certainly correct. If I was following the Catholic faith, I would certainly be in trouble because the Catholic faith says that if you break any of those commandments and do not repent, you are going to be thrown in the flames of Hell.
I, however, do not follow the Catholic faith. I am an religionless ex-Catholic. I am not a troll like some of you said, but I will admit that I have been pretty messed up as a result of Catholicis and religion in general.
So… herein lies the rub… there’s so many religions in this world that all proclaim different things. There are some things in some religions that are forbidden, but not a big deal in other ones. Martin Luther didn’t like some things that the Church taught, so he changed them and essentially made his own religion… and now we have several denominations of Christianity. Since religion is basically a man-made concept, and since I am a part of man-kind, what is stopping me from having my own beliefs?
God did not take a pen (or quill or whatever they used to write back in the day) and personally write the Bible. Man did. And from what I know about man-kind… well… they kind of suck sometimes and like to tell lies and stretch the truth. Therefore, when I read the Bible, I feel like I am learning more about Man than about God. I definitely believe in a higher power, but when human emotions are applied an entity that is not human, to me that is saying that people are projecting and assigning human-like qualities to what best suits them and basically mirroring human nature.
This is why I left the Church, too many questions (that you were NOT allowed to ask, by the way) and nearly not enough answers, and also because all the control, guilt, shame, and self rightousness was just too much to bare. I also feel more spiritual in my life than I have ever had, because I have come to realize there is no such thing as right or wrong… only a matter of perspective on a vast spectrum.
