I have broken almost every commandment.

Free thinker,
I also feel more spiritual in my life than I have ever had, because I have come to realize there is no such thing as right or wrong… only a matter of perspective on a vast spectrum.
You bought into it! Oprah Winfrey! That’s her campaign speech. That you are the other “O”, other god.
And all you need do is realize this, that you are god. Right? Therefore you can’t be wrong or go wrong, but it is all a matter of perspective, or rather different perspectives of the one god which we all are. It’s another form of Pantheism which the church condemned humdreds of years ago. And you fell for it.

The question is…who is Jesus Christ…and just who is Oprah Winfrey. Jesus Christ has proved himself by his miracles, and how has Oprah Winfrey proved herself? She proves she is good at selling books to help you believe what you want to believe, and she is good at making money this way.

Before you swallow hook, line, and sinker, you may want to take a gander at this.

This is why I left the Church, too many questions (that you were NOT allowed to ask, by the way) and nearly not enough answers, and also because all the control, guilt, shame, and self rightousness was just too much to bare. I also feel more spiritual in my life than I have ever had, because I have come to realize there is no such thing as right or wrong… only a matter of perspective on a vast spectrum.
Who told you you were not allowed to ask stuff? I would even go to saying the contrary, if something bothers you you should ask, of course if you asked an atheist specially a militant one, xe would try to convince you that there is no God, so we might take that as sinful, but seeking for a good catholic spiritual guide to ask him/her. it is totally fine, actually i wish you had asked the right questions, but i suppose it is not late for that. go to the apologetics section and ask everything that troubled you.

also I know there is too much self righteouness, but let me tell you that is not supposed to be, i know there are a lot of “hollier than thou” persons, but it is wrong. we are all sinners, that is why you should look for the official CC responses, those are the rules we are to follow, not the ones made by some crazy guys. also the Catholic Encyclopaedia is a good place to understand stuff.

I sense your hatred, and i understand you. even if you might think not, I just believe that you should seek for what true Catholicism is about, what does sin really is, hopefully it will change your idea about us.

The OP does not believe in Hell, but the real question is, does she believe in God and His mercy ?

All of us has at one point or another broken one or more of the commandments.

God’s punishment for our transgressions, is His Love and forgiveness. The only question is whether we will accept it.

Someone who says they have lived a sinful wicked life and has no regrets about it, is either lying or trying to fool themselves. They can’t possibly be happy with themselves.

She does not believe in right or wrong…sin. Everything is ok it is just a matter of how you look at things. So she dosen’t need God’s mercy if there is no sin. And then there would be no hell as well.

Her whole theology has changed completely. The base of belief is quite different now without sin. Which means there are no more rules to follow.

but none can match the wonderous treasure that I find in the Bread from heaven, JESUS THE LORD.” Hymn

It amazes me how many people are eager to claim others are on the path to Hell, when even the CC says it does not know who is or isn’t actually IN Hell.
O Sapientia only said that the original poster is **on the path to hell **and did not judge her as one already condemned to hell. What O Sapientia said was most fair/just and perfectly true and charitable. You’ve got to be kidding if you think that the original poster is not on the road to hell when she openly admits that she could care less about these terrible sins she’s committing like adultery, contraception, etc… God bless you.

Wow… thanks for all of the responses.

Yes… you are all certainly correct. If I was following the Catholic faith, I would certainly be in trouble because the Catholic faith says that if you break any of those commandments and do not repent, you are going to be thrown in the flames of Hell.

I, however, do not follow the Catholic faith. I am an religionless ex-Catholic. I am not a troll like some of you said, **but I will admit that I have been pretty messed up as a result of Catholicis and religion in general. **

So… herein lies the rub… there’s so many religions in this world that all proclaim different things. There are some things in some religions that are forbidden, but not a big deal in other ones. Martin Luther didn’t like some things that the Church taught, so he changed them and essentially made his own religion… and now we have several denominations of Christianity. Since religion is basically a man-made concept, and since I am a part of man-kind, what is stopping me from having my own beliefs?

**God did not take a pen (or quill or whatever they used to write back in the day) and personally write the Bible. Man did. And from what I know about man-kind… well… they kind of suck sometimes and like to tell lies and stretch the truth. ** Therefore, when I read the Bible, I feel like I am learning more about Man than about God. I definitely believe in a higher power, but when human emotions are applied an entity that is not human, to me that is saying that people are projecting and assigning human-like qualities to what best suits them and basically mirroring human nature.

**This is why I left the Church, too many questions (that you were NOT allowed to ask, by the way) and nearly not enough answers, and also because all the control, guilt, shame, and self rightousness was just too much to bare. **I also feel more spiritual in my life than I have ever had, because I have come to realize there is no such thing as right or wrong… only a matter of perspective on a vast spectrum.
The above (in bold by me) make me very sad. I sense a lot of pain behind these words. What happened to you? Who didn’t answer your questions? Who make you feel guilt and shame? What happened to make this too make the Church too much to bare?

This is actually starting to make me tear up. You can ask any question and there are always answers. Perhaps not every Catholic knows the answers, and sure individual Catholics (or even an entire Parish) can be wrong. But the Church as a whole, guided by Jesus and the Holy Spirit will next allow the Church to teach in error. After all, the Catholic Church was not created by man. It’s was created by God.

I will pray for you and if you ever need a digital ear, you can PM me. I sense your pain and we are hear if you ever want to discuss it or ask specific questions.

May Christ grant you His Mercy and help you find your way back to him.

Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Thy Mercy.

Amen.

But the original poster didn’t come here for that. Don’t make her into a little Miss Martyr now. She is acting like a child and her tantrums and antics should not be encouraged.

Yours in Jesus and Mary,
OS.
You don’t know WHAT she came here for. No one can read hearts but God.

And don’t make assumptions about my attitude toward the listed behaviors. No…what I’m saying is, she has a point.

No one can threaten or even cajole another into repentence.

No one can expect finger-pointing to work.

I see some incorrect assumptions or hyperbole in the OP, but given how people on this forum list literally everything as a sin (from owning pets to using paper towels to having a fleeting thought), I can see how the OP could arrive at those assumptions.

If everything is a sin, then nothing is a sin. If every day is Ash Wednesday, Ash Wednesday loses its meaning.

Free thinker,

St. Peter swore and cursed that he did not know Jesus Christ. Later after Jesus rose on Easter he asked Peter if he loved him. He forgave Peter.

An adulterous woman came to Jesus as he reclined at table and poured perfume on his head and washed his feet with her tears. He forgave her.

“My heart is restless until it rests in thee O Lord”.

There is always room for one more in his heart.

May God our Father give you grace and peace.

Many of the greatest saints were great sinners, and they have broken way more commandments than you. And yet salvation was theirs! Why? Because of one important thing - they repented! All Catholics are sinners - even the ones wagging their fingers at you. The difference between a person like you and a person who craves God is one thing - Love.

Love makes a person sin sensitive. The more you love God the more aware you are when you are doing something wrong in His eyes - doing something to offend Him and hurt Him! If you started to grow in love with God you would probably start to notice alot more things that you do to offend Him, not just the ordinary things you have stated in your post.

And who do you think is in deeper peril of going to hell? A person who doesn’t even believe in God and offends Him or a person who loves God and offends Him anyway, knowing full well what they are doing. Obviously its the later. Would you not be hurt more if your best friend insulted you than a stranger?

But this does not mean that you are not in peril. You are obviously aware that you are offending God, and you must have some belief in Him, or you would not have bothered to cross-examine yourself using the ten commandments and posting it on here.

The fact of the matter is, you do not have to believe in hell for it to be real. You do not have to believe in God for Him to exist. He exists regardless of whether we, insignificant creatures, believe in Him or not. This stands to reason that if you offend God in the way you live and do not repent then you are putting your soul at risk. It is not God who sends you to hell - it is you who chooses it. If you reject God than why would you even want to go to heaven? The whole thing about heaven is you go there - to be with Him! Not to live like how you are living on earth now.

I think you truly do not understand what you are saying when you have no regrets - that or you have no love for Jesus. When you say you have no regrets - you are saying that you do not regret offending God, or nailing Jesus to the cross. If you honestly wish to go to heaven and be with God - then you must pray to God to help you be sorry for your sins. And pray earnestly! Not just as a passing thought in a day but for at least ten minutes a day! God did not create the ten commandments to test how bad you were, he created them as a guide for you - so you can live life to the fullest and find happiness.

So God bless, ill be praying for you. But it is up to you what you choose.

Dman i didnt see this post. If you are not Catholic why are you seeking to be condemned on here? You speak as if shame and guilt was a bad thing - but they can both be blessings. They help you to realize you have done something wrong - they motivate you to change and move on then be a better person, which leads you to happiness. Because people can be wrong, they can be wrong in their thoughts and actions, they can make wrong choices and have wrong motives. People all the time do things that they know or think to be wrong. Does this make them right? Of course not! If I put my foot on the accelerator instead of the break then I obviously made a wrong impulsive decision. This does not mean it is right for anyone else either, regardless of the consequences. Wrong is wrong and right is right, regardless.

You should really clarify by what you mean when you say you only believe in a matter of perspective. People worldwide may differ on opinions of what right or wrong is, but we all agree on one thing – we have a wrong way and a right way. To westerners the right way to say hello is to shake hands, whereas to other nations- to touch each other would be a great offence when being first introduced. This fact does not abolish a thing such as right or wrong – it just shows the vastness of differences between the various nations of the world. To declare you don’t believe in wrong or right is ignorant and conceited. Then everything you do is essentially meaningless. You are not living the right way nor the wrong way, you could murder or rape someone and still be faultless. Would you still not believe that you have been wronged if you were the one to be murdered or raped? Or was this of no consequence to you?

The church teaches that those who die unrepentant in mortal sin go to hell. T

The OP claims to be unrepentant and thus will go to hell if she dies in the same state of mortal sin. 🤷
