I have finally made my choice --and my peace – to go ahead with my move to Canada with my Fiancé.

Yes, we’re in a Same-Sex relationship, yes we plan on Marrying civilly.

However, I also intend to remain celibate, to the best of my ability…

It makes not one difference what any one thinks about marriage equality in the States since it is provided for by the Equal Protection Clause and a done issue. I guess not living in a theocracy is awesome for 90% of people and quite upsetting for 10%.

That’s a weak argument. Nothing is ever a “done issue” unless free speech and the political process are dead. How did people make the change in the first place? It was settled that marriage is between a man and a woman for thousands of years. Telling same-sex marriage advocates that it was a “done issue” did not deter them from speaking out and changing the system. Why should it stop those who want it changed back?

Such claims are simply meant to depress and silence opposition. Few issues in America are ever done - slavery, statehood, abortion, voting rights, etc.

I have visited Canada just once ( on my honeymoon) and I found it to be a very cool place - certainly a place I could see myself setting down roots if I weren’t such a Southern homebody.
