I am feeling very depressed and hopeless. My life is not what I want it to be and nothing I do to change that is working out. I love my boyfriend and want to marry him but my Indian parents don’t want me to do that or they will cut all ties with me. If I break up with him, it will kill me, If I don’t my parents will cut me off. I have no reason to live as I have no way to be happy again.
It has been 2 years of such hopelessness and I am tired. I am getting suicidal thoughts.
God has shown some mercy and improved my situation over the last six months but there is a lot more to go.
 
If you are having suicidal thoughts, you should go to the emergency room. A Doctor in the ER can send you to the professional that can best handle your needs.

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Don’t do it. In life, especially when you are young, life seems to be the darkest right before the dawn. If you pray about the problem, God has a way of providing answers that you don’t see today.

Go to the ER and get some help.

darkangel, no one is worth becoming suicidal over. Not your boyfriend, not your parents. No.

It seems that neither your parents or your boyfriend care enough about you to not put this pressure on you. They are all forcing you to choose between them and that needs to stop.
Your parents want to rule and run your life, your boyfriend is unwilling to compromise, wants it all his way. It can’t happen for both.

You alone need to decide what to do for you by asking God to lead you toward His Will FOR YOU alone. What would He will for you if your parents and your boyfriend were not there? It seems to me you are trying to fill their dreams and not your own, and maybe not God’s will for you.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Can you see a counselor? Talking to a professional might help give you someone to vent to while you decide what to do.

You know I would have struggled with lifelong depression and I hope this helps what I’m about to tell you: Jesus loves you
 
Call the suicide hotline. Call a friend or trusted relative. Or, you can call your pastor.

please do not make any rush decisions. Are you a fulfilled and content woman? Have you reached your desired goals in life? Academically?? Financially? DO you have a stable job? a place to live? Are you independent? You don’t need to rush into anything. Please take your time and put a lot of prayer into this…Do not choose between the man you love and your family…you do not have to lose anybody. FInd yourself first before you lose anyone in your life. God bless!!!
