Speaking from experience, aside from fervent prayer going to the ER is the best option. I’ve done it myself over something very similar. Just because you may feel it insignificant or not serious enough for that, doesn’t mean that it isn’t important. If it’s important to you it IS important, more then that people are there to help! Irregardless of the conflict, having a third party helping you out such as a doctor will be a great aid! God does work miracles, but sometimes, the miracle is found in the ordinary things of life. Jesus spent most of his life in obscurity sanctifying the world through simple everyday tasks. I believe at least getting some help is one small baby step in the right direction. I am not again a doctor or healthcare professional in any sense, but I have struggled with some of the very same things. It’s far better to ‘make a fuss’ and receive the needed help and support then suffer in silence and perhaps open yourself to greater dangers.

If you love your boyfriend , it’s fine to marry him , but talk to your friends , priest , people who care about you , and go see a counselor , or go to the ER , God loves you , and he will suffer with you , and guide you , pray to him , I’m praying for you my friend ( btw I struggle with depression, if you need someone to talk to , we are here ) 😊
 
Our prayers are with you, but we urgently want you to get over your depression and suicidal thoughts.

Parents put too large a burden on their children, when they say things like this, “don’t marry that man.” There has to be more to this story, such as that you are Catholic and that they are of a different faith. I don’t understand why they don’t introduce you to the “perfect man” that they DO want you to marry.

If there is an underlying religious conflict here, you may have to “leave father and mother” do what is best for you, particularly with respect to the faith of the man you love.

Truthfully, are you looking at this situation correctly? Your parents owe you more than just their condemnation. There is no reason to punish yourself with suicide, your parents are punishing you enough – and enough of that!

Right now, for the Love of Jesus Christ, reject the thoughts of suicide. Reject the depression that you feel. And, reject the urgency about all this that is “eating away” at you. You’ve been going through this pain for, what?, two years. OK, why don’t you give yourself a couple months “off” from feeling this way – as it isn’t making anything better.

If you have no hope, put your faith in Jesus Christ and seek His hope and love. Put your trust in Him and learn patience.

In a practical way, if you don’t already live with your parents, I would offer a suggestion that you move back in with them and have them support you. Just sit there, read magazines, pray, watch TV, and wait for your parents to change. I can’t say for sure, but it seems that you have to put some pressure on them to change, to do something for you. If they are “controlling you,” then ask them for everything – a glass of water, to open the blinds on the window, to fix you food, etc. Make them draw the line for themselves where their control of you comes to an end, but keep at them to do everything for you (that you otherwise can do for yourself). Remind them that you have no control, but that they have it all, so they owe it to you, to take care of you – every minute of the day. Remind them of how much you love them. Remind them that your “biological clock” is ticking, and that they would have grandchildren by now if you were married. But, be respectful to them, love them and honor them.

If it’s possible, stop worrying and trust in God. We all have to do that. I have a heart test tomorrow and it’s all in God’s hands.

I am feeling very depressed and hopeless. My life is not what I want it to be and nothing I do to change that is working out. I love my boyfriend and want to marry him but my Indian parents don’t want me to do that or they will cut all ties with me. If I break up with him, it will kill me. If I don’t my parents will cut me off. I have no reason to live as I have no way to be happy again.
It has been 2 years of such hopelessness and I am tired. I am getting suicidal thoughts.
God has shown some mercy and improved my situation over the last six months but there is a lot more to go.
