If jesus overcame life and death why did he not overcome evil and sinfullness?

He did.

It’s up to us now.
The Priest tell me we are sinner’s, Jesus say’s to be perfect, yet everyone I speak to claims no such thing can be accomplished, with God all things are possible.

As you are a Roman Catholic according to your profile, may I respectfully suggest that these questions (you have opened up several threads on various topics in which you seem to deny Catholic teachings) which you ask are addressed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which I highly recommend you read.

You can find it online. Just Google.

Furthermore, CA has a library with tracts on these subjects, and a link to This Rock magazine which also addresses them. These two areas are excellent places to ‘read up’ on the subjects you’re having trouble with. God bless.

Thanks for your help, but being a Catholic does mean belief in the teachings of the Churchor who would qualify, if sisters brothers and priest disobey, I am asking these questions to anser what i hear at mass, are you perfect?

By the way I have a copy of the Cathechism of the Catholic Church, but like the bible it can be interpreted many ways.

Are you perfect?

The Jesus quoted scripture and said be Holy for I am Holy, Paul said that should we go on sinning so that grace may increase no we die to sin, John said no one who is a child of God sin’s, No one is righteous not one, Jesus said why do you call me good on the Father is Good.

Peace

XVI Council of Carthage (418 AD)

Likewise it has been decided: Whoever says that the grace of God by which the human person is justified through Jesus Christ our Lord serves only for the remission of sins already committed, and is not also a help not to commit them, anathema sit.

Again: Whoever says that this same grace of God through our Lord Jesus Christ helps us not to sin solely because through it an understanding of the commandments is revealed and opened to us that we may know what we should seek and what we should avoid, but not because through it is given to us the love and the strength to do what we have recognised to be our duty, anathema sit.

In the modern West, we have grown weak and ignorant of the Catholic Faith. I highly recommend that you be careful in listening to those who would suggest to you cheap grace.

The Bible can be interpreted many ways only if you are Protestant!!

1 John 5:
1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten by God, and everyone who loves the father loves (also) the one begotten by him.
2
In this way we know that we love the children of God when we love God and obey his commandments.
3
For the love of God is this, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome,
4
for whoever is begotten by God conquers the world. And the victory that conquers the world is our faith.
5
Who (indeed) is the victor over the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Yes, we are sinners, but we are called to perfection in Christ. The sacramental life of the Church helps us in this way and thus it is not impossible to live a life that is growing ever more fully into an image of Christ through His grace.

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church re the basis of this perfection:
456 With the Nicene Creed, we answer by confessing: “For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit, he became incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and was made man.”
457 The Word became flesh for us in order to save us by reconciling us with God, who “loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins”: “the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world”, and “he was revealed to take away sins”:70
Sick, our nature demanded to be healed; fallen, to be raised up; dead, to rise again. We had lost the possession of the good; it was necessary for it to be given back to us. Closed in the darkness, it was necessary to bring us the light; captives, we awaited a Savior; prisoners, help; slaves, a liberator. Are these things minor or insignificant? Did they not move God to descend to human nature and visit it, since humanity was in so miserable and unhappy a state?71
458 The Word became flesh so that thus we might know God’s love: "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him."72 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."73
459 The Word became flesh to be our model of holiness: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me.” "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me."74 On the mountain of the Transfiguration, the Father commands: "Listen to him!"75 Jesus is the model for the Beatitudes and the norm of the new law: "Love one another as I have loved you."76 This love implies an effective offering of oneself, after his example.77
460 The Word became flesh to make us “partakers of the divine nature”:78 "For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God."79 "For the Son of God became man so that we might become God."80 "The only-begotten Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that he, made man, might make men gods."81
