I have Protestant friends who don't challenge me, and we get along fine. Is this abnormal?

Isn’t this normal in “real life”, or did I just luck out and get great friends?

Serious question.
I think it’s rare that anyone attacks or tries to undermine another’s faith. People who form genuine relationships generally don’t do that.

I have relatives who are Protestant (ex-Catholics) and we went through the lengthy debate phase. Mainly because they were preaching trying to convert members of my family even my mother and I had to put a stop to that. Once we defined clear boundaries and where everyone stands, we are since civilized to each other. For the sake of peace.

I’m so happy for you. I think such friends are true blessings.

I gave up on my Protestant friends because they would never try to get into a discussion about God that involved different faith. They simply used to get offended that I was trying to compare Protestantism with other faith/religion, while my simple intention was just to see the similarities and differences (let’s say - a comparative study). Apart from that when I first announced that I was to pursue Catholicism (I’m a convert), their snide remarks about it just left me dumbfounded because I had this belief that true Christians are free from hatred and mockery.

Anyway, this forum is a very good source of discussion and support, as well as getting insight and knowledge. So, I don’t regret the loss of those “friends” .
