Me and my family are on vacation, the problem is that it extends past sunday and into the week. I wasn’t happy about the arrangement, but figured I could find a Mass here while on vacation.

If anyone knows of a church in this area, or anything else I can do, please do help.

Check your phone book in the yellow pages under churches, then most have a recording of the times. Also if you can find out what Diocese they are in they should have a webiste for the Diocese where you can see posted mass times.

it also depends on how willing my parents are to go out and find a church.

Are you at a resort? Ask at the guest services desk. There is often a Mass on-site for staff and guests.

Oh for heaven’s sake! Stop complaining about being on vacation and saying you are not happy! It is whining.

You remind me of my son’s friend who is complaining about his family’s month long European vacation. He does not want to go because the food will be weird, the hotels will be old, and he will be away from his bed for so long.

Stop whining and enjoy the vacation.

Or next time, stay home.

a cab probably wont happen because of the money. My best bet is if there really is an on resort Mass like Corki suggested. That would be great really.

I don’t know how soon your trip is but you can email ahead and find out. One place we stayed had a shuttle into town for Mass. But that was Mexico when almost everyone is Catholic. 👍

Its Sunday and I didn’t make it to Mass 😦

Is there something else I should/must do? like spend an hour in prayer to make up for not making it to Mass?

Here are the canons for the Latin Church:

Can. 1247 On Sundays and other holydays of obligation, the faithful are obliged to assist at Mass. They are also to abstain from such work or business that would inhibit the worship to be given to God, the joy proper to the Lord’s Day, or the due relaxation of mind and body.
Can. 1248 §1 The obligation of assisting at Mass is satisfied wherever Mass is celebrated in a catholic rite either on a holyday itself or on the evening of the previous day.
§2** If it is impossible to assist at a eucharistic celebration**, either because no sacred minister is available or for some other grave reason, the faithful are strongly recommended to take part in a liturgy of the Word, if there be such in the parish church or some other sacred place, which is celebrated in accordance with the provisions laid down by the diocesan Bishop; **or to spend an appropriate time in prayer, whether personally or as a family or, as occasion presents, in a group of families. **

if I did not complete this on the sunday I mentioned, should it be made up as soon as possible?

You can’t “make up” a missed Sunday Mass. If it was your fault, confess it. If you missed through no fault of your own, don’t worry too much about it but maybe have a “Plan B” in the future.

You don’t have to make it up. When you cannot assist at Mass, it is recommended to pray for an appropriate time, which is probably how much time you would be at Mass.
