I have two EXTREMELY embarrassing sins to confess but have been putting it off for literally years. Please help!

If something that was mortal was hidden -one would confess that sin, and that one hid it and any other mortal sins from that confession and since your last good confession. That seems to be where the problem comes in.

(or perhaps if others since then have been “in good faith” then just those that were part of that “bad confession”…but talk with the Priest if this was the case and ask him to guide you)

(and one does what one can in remembering – we are not Vulcans and may not remember everything…)

Well no of course it’s not the whole story. There is a lot more to the situation. Happy and healthy children do not wake up one day and start committing certain acts (that really children should not be so aware of) with relatives. Loneliness and a heck of a lot of pain can do strange things to a child.

Star Trek. Nice. haha. I guess the best thing for me to do at this point is go to confession before Mass and talk about this with the priest. If he wants me to re-do everything then that’s fine. I just want the guilt and pain to be put to rest.

You would want to make an appointment I image. If you hid mortal sins (you mentioned sins since that general confession that were not confessed) that needs to be dealt with in confession. And “right before Mass” is not likely the time to do it. And one would want to deal with such prior to Communion if one has made a bad confession. The Priest needs to know that your talking about two different things --the first seems that you were seeking to make a complete confession and confessed all you judged needful -so would not likely be “re done” -but if mortal sins were not confessed from some point later as you seem to say -that is where the problem comes in. If I say commit murder and adultery and go to confession and out of fear hide the adultery part -the murder too was not absolved. If later confess murder again -that normally would be also invalid. And if in the next confession I confess lying under oath -that too is still invalid. So I need to go to confession and confess that I made a bad confession(s) and confess the murder (two now), the adultery and the lying under oath (and any other mortal sins since that bad confession …such as if I received Holy Communion in a state of mortal sin…of course if one was in good faith that can change certain things).
