We will have to see If they, other posters, keep this thread alive, long enough but if they do, I intend to prove that there exists more proof of God than “proof of Black Holes” and that it requires more “faith” to believe some of the current theories in science, than in religion… Wait for it… You probably saw that coming though…🙂

Since you brought it up… Can you prove, without **any **doubt, that the Heliocentric Theory, is proven, 100 %, over the Geocentric Theory (it‘s still called a “theory“), considering that all movement is relative and that there exists, no truly “fixed” objects in space? Moreover, some have calculated that the mass of Jupiter would workout mathematically… BTW, I believe that today, the evidence leans toward Heliocentric … I‘m not a “Flat Earth Guy“… Your thoughts?

I can’t prove, without any doubt, that you exist and certainly whether or not you only exist on the back of a turtle, the question is whether such ruminations are worth the time.

I think that it is worth the time to discuss this, because there does exist today, many wild ideals about what is “true”, especially with TV and CG and an entire generation, who believe “everything that they see”. I believe that there are parallels that exist between religion and science and “faith“. I also believe in God for many reasons and one of those reasons… is based on reason… Am I crazy?

Science isn’t about ‘truth’, it’s about ‘explanation’, testable, falsifiable, or potentially falsifiable, explanation. In other words, it’s about ‘How . . . . ?’ questions not ‘Why . . . ?’ questions.

It’s unreasonable to conflate ‘How?’ and ‘Why?’.

What is the definition of a “theory” in science? What is the definition of “truth” in science? Explaining what? A theory or the truth? What does science think about the existence of God, for example? You’re making me work for it… Aren’t you? 😃

Perhaps the problem lies not so much in your questions but rather in the nature of your questions?

Perhaps you need to think of better questions if you want better answers?

(If you consider what I’ve just written, you may very well find the answer to the whole thing ;))

One sure wouldn’t know this by talking to a science professor or to a scientist… I think that they all believe that “it’s about the truth"… This holds true for science documentaries, as well… Wouldn’t you agree?

Perhaps you think they’re saying what it is that you presume that they’re saying rather than what they’re actually saying?

The only thing I’ve ever accused you of is asking questions that take up too much space (even on my 23" monitor).

Well, the thing is I don’t recognize the situation that you outline in your question about the behaviour of scientists - other than as cliche.
