I just came up with a new idea of mine for evangelizing non-Catholics!

Leaving literature on cars without the owners direct permission have been and will continue to be charged and convicted of littering, vandalizing ( a bend wipper blade or even just a scratch on the car is considered such – cell phone video makes this easy to prove), vechile trespassing, and is against nuisance laws in many cities.

One should check their local and state laws. Hint: where I live all these laws are in force.

There are State vechile traspassing and littering laws in many states that outlaw leaving literature, flyers on cars.

Many Cities also have laws against vandalizing and cover this under their nuisance laws.

I know because I personally have made several arrests and successfully followed though in court getting business and individuals heavy fines. And, if I see you doing this in any parking lot to any vechile, I will use my cell phone to make a video of it and I will successfully have you fined in court. Each flyer will be counted as a seperate charge which will cost you thousands.

If you have not figured it out a Car is private property.

When you consider there are many places you can leagally leave literature with permission, messing with people’s cars works aganist you.

Today, I discussed leaving flyers on people’s cars in a store with others. One person said that she spreads nasty rummors and lies about businesses and churches that have left junk on her car. A guy said that he mails businesses that puts flyers on his truck a heavy box of postage due rocks and wet sand in a plastic bag.

Bottom line, leaving junk on people’s PRIVATE PROPERTY has negative impact on most people and as Christians the End does not justifly the means.

Personally, I have no problem with recieving free literatue in the mail because that is not creating litter, nor damaging my mailbox. In the past, I have had my car damaged by people leaving junk on it and have petition politicans to pass laws against it which is why companies that use to put flyers on cars for businesses, now mail packs of coupons to homes.

Hints on literature distribution:

Look for public bulletin boards like at ACO, Laundry Mats, Dry Cleaners, Stores.

Look for Waiting Areas in businesses and public places.

Always, get permission.

Windshield Ads Get Final Notice in Santa Monica

May 26, 1988|MICHAEL FISHER | Community CorrespondentTired of having your windshield sprinkled with flyers and leaflets promoting everything from pizza to perms? In Santa Monica, those ever-present advertisements will soon be a thing of the past.

The City Council late Tuesday night gave preliminary approval to an ordinance that outlaws the placement of commercial flyers, handbills or circulars on parked, unattended cars.

Holly, if Baptists, Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses were to leave their literature on cars in your church parking lot while you were in mass, how would you feel?

It’s a good idea as long as you remember most Protestants are Christians. There are enough unbelievers , athesists and those from false religions to target. When I was an evangelical Protestant I didn’t target Catholics, as I respected the fact that they were Christians. Big difference between sharing with an atheist and someone who has been baptized and living according to the Bible.

Amen

On a positive note, are you plainning to participate in the EACH movement coming to Detroit Metro Area just after Easter?

Big Dummy, three points in response:
  1. Obviously you’re not reading what I wrote. I have made the point, based on my personal experience and the experience of others, that a great number of people do indeed read things that are left on their windshields, mailboxes, and/or doorknobs. I have my particular lawn service because of just such a marketing approach. A friend of mine has their plumber because of just such a marketing approach. If this approach didn’t work, then no one would do those things anymore. Yet, people still do those things. Makes you wonder why if nobody reads them, doesn’t it?
  2. No one is going to be “saved” by reading something left on their windshield, mailbox, and/or door. But, that is not the point. We don’t save anyone…the Holy Spirit does. Our job is to plant the seeds. And, leafleting can indeed plant some seeds. Do you believe the Holy Spirit can use Holly to plant the seeds of the faith, to maybe stir up a little curiousity about the Catholic Faith, by putting articles about the Catholic Faith on people’s windshields, mailboxes, and/or doors? If you don’t believe He can, then why do you even bother with anything? If you do believe He can, then why so pessimistic and dismissive?
  3. What harm is it to you if Holly follows through on her idea? What if there is the possibility of one soul coming into the Catholic Faith and receiving the Sacraments because of Holly doing something like this. Would one soul be worth her effort? Yes or no?
Again, I don’t understand why anyone would tell any Catholic who is excited about some evangelization project that it is a waste of time and discourage them from doing whatever they can to spread the Faith. Why can you not just say, “Hey, Holly…go for it! If even one soul is brought closer to Christ through your efforts it will all be worth it!” Why can’t you say that instead of, “you would be better off donating subscriptions to Christian Magazines to your local Public Library?” As Donald Sutherland said to Gavin McLeod, “What’s with the negative waves, Moriarity?”
👍

If there are valid legal or other issues about the car windshields, just use another route. Putting literature at the laundromat or doctor’s office waiting room - especially if there aren’t very many magazines there people will read just to have something to read! 😉

I totally agree that even one soul is worth it, and IMO the arguments against are weaker than the arguments for. You go, Holly!:yup: Plant those seeds!

Sorry, but we don’t “get someone to convert to the Catholic faith,” the Holy Spirit does that. Our job is to throw out the seeds. And, Holly’s idea is an excellent example of doing just that. I really don’t understand why all of you are making it an either/or situation - that’s very Protestant-think of you. **Why can’t you just encourage her to run with her idea and see if it bears any fruit? Why do all of you have to be so discouraging to her? Don’t you have any faith in the Holy Spirit and what He can do with someone who is willing to throw out some seeds? **Shame, shame. I’ll bet there aren’t any marketing people among you, are there? Mcrow, why are you so afraid of “pushing away” atheists? They’re about as far away as they can get already. Sorry, but I don’t at all understand the mindset of any Catholic who discourages a fellow Catholic from evangelizing. ** If we don’t spread the truth in every way available to us, for fear of offending someone, then we are limiting the ways in which the Holy Spirit can use us. ** Again, Holly, I say excellent idea and bravo!
👍

Based on Agape, I Cor 13, the ends does not justifly the means.

besides the research on putting literature on cars is dismal for postive results. Only 1 out of a thousand even looks at the leaflet to begin with and out those that look at it 99 out of 100 has a negative response, leave a very small less then one percent around
.00001 responds in a positive matter.

Whereas, leaving literature in waiting area, lobbies and on bulletin boards has much better stats, 70 percent will read the matterial and of that 50 to 60 percent responds in a positive way – this is why you see watchtowers at laundry mats, literature areas in public libraries, etc.,

These may be valid numbers in and of themselves, but the statisticians can’t quantify the actions and influence of the Holy Spirit!:yyeess:

**May the favor of the Lord our God be ours. Prosper the work of our hands! Prosper the work of our hands! - Psalm 90:17
**
**So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth;
It shall not return to me void,
but shall do my will,
achieving the end for which I sent it. - Isaiah 55:11
**
. . . and many other similar Scriptures that state over and over again the basic theme that if we but begin, God will multiply our efforts!:amen:

I had a an idea to evangalize to non-catholics as well…

(reads other posters ideas)

…oh you all have much better ideas (puts away baseball bat)
