I just discovered Pandora

What the heck have I been missing out on? Just set up a Pandora channel shuffle on my phone of:

soft rock
classic rock
80’s country
80’s rock
90’s country
Y2 country

bye bye Sirius (will miss The Catholic Guy Show but the show won’t be the same without Fr. Rob 😦 ) but Pandora is free 🙂
 
Yeah, Pandora is pretty much the best thing ever in terms of listening to music. 😃
 
  1. You can make a Pandora chant station or Catholic station
  2. If you have a smart phone, you can stream Catholic radio through the TuneIn app. I believe there are also several Catholic station on I <3 Radio.
    I stream EWTN and Ave Maria Radio through Tune-In

You can also use the name of an artist instead of a genre get a little more specific. Pandora won’t play that artist exclusively but sometimes the genres are a little too broad for me. And clicking on the thumbs up and thumbs down can also change the station significantly.
 
Just wondering, am I the only person who actually goes out of their way to mute Pandora whenever an ad comes on, then unmute it when the music returns?

No, your not the only person. I do have a tendency to mute then forget to unmute.
 
With the average amount of time I spend listening to music nowadays and the amount of music on my iPod, I could put my iPod on shuffle and it would probably take me four years to listen to every song once. 😛

So I’ve never used Pandora before. :o

I did that the first time I heard The Dixie Chicks on 90’s country 😛
 
Yeah, satellite radio doesn’t offer a whole lot extra for the money. If one likes sports too, with a little time, you can find local radio stations via apps like iHeart Radio and TuneIn Radio that will actually broadcast some games, especially hockey, since the NHL encourages local radio streams even on its own homepage.
 
I believe Pandora went “USA only” in like 2003, so for the non-USA members on CAF, I suggest Grooveshark.com

I have Pandora on my computers and on our TV streamer. I don’t have a smart phone, but constant access to Pandora would be my biggest reason for getting one. Favorite channels – celtic music and slack-key guitar.
 
I subscribe to Slacker Premium. $9.99 a month. You can play full albums on demand in many cases, or “single artist” stations.

I still subscribe to SiriusXM … one of the main attractions for me is being able to listen to my favorite sports teams while I’m driving. Native Detroiter, living in West Virginia, but still follow the Tigers and Red Wings.

With “My XM” I can choose which GD songs I prefer by selecting pre or post 1980’s, I can choose East coast or west coast shows as well as if I prefer long jams or short ones. XM radio then plays only the types of tunes I prefer. 👍

…but this option costs extra and it’s only on my iPhone. In my car I can either listen to what XM plays live, or I can plug my phone into my car stereo and play “My XM”.

I grew up in Texas with country southern music and Southern Baptist being constantly forcesed me. I avoid both as much as possible. My Mom’s funeral had both, yes hillbilly music in a church!

Southern Baptist is as close as you can legally come to being the Texas state religion. You can fit 6 of my diocese’s cathedrals in the basilica like first Baptist church. When people move to this part of Texas they immidiatly join the Southern Baptist church and the Tea Party. Leaving the Catholic church to the Latinoes mostly.

Added. I actually love Latinoes. But whatever became of the Irish. Germans, and Poles? They are mostly in Southern Baptist or “non-denominational” denominations.
