I understand that point, mine was more that I was afraid to go back in with it, and I think its important to remind people that their are honest people out there.

Oh yeah, no, whatever works. To be perfectly honest, my husband knows I have a hyper-active guilt sensitivity. He knows that if I went in and fessed up and paid, I’d look guilty and they’d be suspicious. Hence why it’d be better for me to just pay at the register like I was buying it. LOL

I find it quite tame and refreshing myself, its not as unbalanced as other Catholic forums or secular ones. We are able to have more free thought and understanding, almost all logical thinkers in history agree that you learn more from unrestrained opposition then restrained agreement. One forums I found they would prescreen your posts and only release them if they agreed, I once had a post removed and reprimanded because I stated there was evidence and writings that St Peter had a wife.

Uhhh… this isn’t stealing. You made a mistake. Don’t go back to the store and tell them. You might encounter an overaggressive overzealous hotshot young manager who will make a big deal out of it thinking it will help him advance. Send them 5 bucks anonymously through the mail and be done with it!

I did this once, I called and asked for the manager and told them I would be stopping in to pay for an item that did not get ringed up on my reciept. When he asked who the checker was, I said I would prefer not to say who. I gave him my name, had the reciept with me, and apparently the manager had told the women at customer service on that shift I would be in. I had the soap with me, paid and got a reciept and left. I was afraid the young girl who rang me up originally would get fired over the bar of soap. That is why I refused to say who rang me up.

In Staten Islans Ny this week a nine year old boy is facing school suspension for bringing his Lego toy to school. The problem is that the two inch tall figure is holding a tiny plastic gun. Calling the police over a spool of thread is not out of the question in this age of stupidity.

As someone who has worked in retail all her adult life -just go in, explain and pay for it. No one is going to get mad or call the cops in fact I’m sure they’ll be shocked at your honestly. We get customers bringing back things on that were not paid for -no one scolds them trust me. As much as we get people trying to sneak out without paying for things its refreshing to be reminded there are few honest people left out there.

Sending in money anonymously is a headache for the retailer. As someone who has worked in the cash office everything has to be accounted for -the amount of money for the bank deposits must match the sales. One can not just add money that someone sent anonymously to the regular deposit. They would probably have to call the home office and get instructions on how to proceed and it would be a big pain in the rear.

Call their customer service number and they can charge you for it over the phone with your credit card.

I am the momma of a 2 year old SHOPLIFTER who stuffs things down her coat sleeves w hile we shop. MANY times I have come home the unsuspecting owner of things we did not intend to purchase! Lots of times I’ve called and explained-- the ask you for the SKU off the back of the item (bar code numbers) and they can jsut charge you that way. Lots of time they say dont worry about it if its something small like thread.

I was a retail manager for years. No one is going to care enough to call the police, I ASSURE you!
