You are right, thank you tGette.šŸ™‚
I am just butting in…

It is because she is not Catholic!
At least not yet…God willing…that will change!

I think, especially for those new to the faith, as was discussed in this thread earlier, that it takes some growing to become bold in your faith to be able to proclaim unequivocally ā€œagainstā€ naysayers and the like…

It takes some spiritual growth to be unabashedly faithful!

Hope you did not mind me responding for you notsmart!

I was a waitress through college. I worked hard to get on the Sunday morning shift because it was the best for tips and we got some very nice people just coming from Church… but alas, one week they needed me to work the swing shift… Sunday night at Denny’s! At about 9:30 in the evening we were suddenly full of people from a Bible Church… I think the whole congregation came in. Every single table filled!!! I was thrilled that I would be making some money… and then I went to each table to take their orders… I kid you not… every table… ā€œChild, have you been saved???ā€ And none of them would let me go do my job until I either said yes or they saved me. At the end of my counter was a man that was a regular in the place… he pulled out a piece of paper and started writing… then he hands it to me with the instructions… see which of these works. I looked on the paper and there was a list of responses to the question ā€œHave you been saved?ā€ I laughed so hard!!! In the end, none of his suggestions worked. If I said yes, they wanted to hear about it (testimony) and if I said no, they gave me theirs… if I said, yes twice and neither time took (one of his suggestions)… they doubled their efforts. Still I tried to just think about the tips… yeah about those tips… a bunch of Chick tracks and a dime or quarter here or there… that sure helped pay the rent!

edit: did I mention that that was the day I got so frustrated I walked to the cigarette machine and I bought a pack and walked to the back room and lit a cigarette with tears streaming down my face… there went 5 yrs of no smoking down the drain!!!
Having worked previously in the restaurant, customer service, and retail industries, I know as well as you do that there is nothing worse than a Sunday.

I did once hear an evangelical pastor say that he’d love to smack anyone who ever left a prayer card or a tract in place of a tip at a restaurant. As far as I can tell, this wasn’t dry humor either…the guy was seriously livid. Basically it came down to ā€œYou deprive someone of a way to make ends meet and provide their family, and the only way that they can identify the people that do so is by the church that they go to. That’s a great way to get others to praise and worship God!ā€

(the last sentence was biting sarcasm for those who couldn’t interpret it as such)

I would never ā€œevangelizeā€ this way. It’s very dehumanizing. I guess it feels good to do it all dressed up in suday ā€˜best’ while feeling oh so good about yourself for showing the world you just went to chuch, so you ought to be better than…
They must have missed a few bible passages to live their faith this way, and to think they will be the spark for the Holy Spirit to aid conversion. I hope that they will see the Holy Family in each person serving them at a table the next time they go out for a brunch. Maybe they need to serve a brunch to the poor, without anyone noticing. I doubt they would think it proper to continue to use Jesus as a get out of responsibility card.
