Today, I was able to witness the ordination of 13 new men for our diocese. It was an incredible experience to say the least. God bless our priests. Have you ever attended one?
Haven’t been so fortunate, but I do pray daily for more vocations. If you can get to attend the first mass of any of the priests, do so - for one thing there’s a plenary indulgence attached to doing so.Today, I was able to witness the ordination of 13 new men for our diocese. Thirteen?! That is AWESOME! I guess when you are in a diocese that hasn’t had an ordination in a while, and won’t for a couple more years, 13 is an incredible number!Today, I was able to witness the ordination of 13 new men for our diocese. the only way i know how is to meet people in the Catholic community. get involved in groups, communities, bible studies, etc. you’ll find that the Catholic world is actually very small. well out of the millions in my area (literally), there are the same people always at all the events. it started at my bible study. then i met other youth at other parishes. then i went to youth events and met people there. then on retreats. then at monasteries and convents. once people knew i was discerning my vocation, i got calls about the priestly and deaconate ordinations from all sorts of people. mind you, i’m not the social butterfly. quite the opposite actually. God just makes things happen.I have never been to one, but I would love to.
I would also love for my son to see one. I wonder how you seek one out.
I home school (attend daily Mass at least once a week), work at the church store, am part of CWA, teach CCD and VBS, if there is an ordination around, I should hear about it.the only way i know how is to meet people in the Catholic community. get involved in groups, communities, bible studies, etc. you’ll find that the Catholic world is actually very small. well out of the millions in my area (literally), there are the same people always at all the events. it started at my bible study. then i met other youth at other parishes. then i went to youth events and met people there. then on retreats. then at monasteries and convents. once people knew i was discerning my vocation, i got calls about the priestly and deaconate ordinations from all sorts of people. mind you, i’m not the social butterfly. quite the opposite actually. perhaps you can even try calling the office of the parish (cathedral?) where they hold the ordinations. just ask. who knows, you may get lucky.
yowza! welp, maybe it would make a nice field trip one day. better start making calls! or maybe write them a nice letter?I home school (attend daily Mass at least once a week), work at the church store, am part of CWA, teach CCD and VBS, if there is an ordination around, I should hear about it.
Problem is, our cathedral is three and a half hours away.
Our cathedral is also 3 and a half hours away. A lot of times when the man being ordained is from our city, some of the parishes get together and take a bus down for those who’d like to go. Being in AL, it’s not like there are tons of Catholics though, and we don’t have to do tickets and such for the ordinations (at least we didn’t the last time I went). Anyway, you could ask around about those kinds of things though, and maybe you could even organize something like that if it’s allowed where you are.I home school (attend daily Mass at least once a week), work at the church store, am part of CWA, teach CCD and VBS, if there is an ordination around, I should hear about it.

I am also in Alabama. A trip to Mobile would be nice. Now I just have to find out when the next one happens. Our cathedral is also 3 and a half hours away.
