I am also in Alabama. A trip to Mobile would be nice. Now I just have to find out when the next one happens.
Yeah, too bad it has been and is going to be a little while…😦 We definitely need to keep praying for vocations. 👍

I just attended the ordination today of 8 new priests for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. This was my first ordination that I have attended…how beautiful it was. One of the ordinants was a Vietnamese refugee, so there was a huge contingent of Vietnamese folks. It reminds one that we are the UNIVERSAL Church!

I know exactly how you feel, we had 4 from the continent of Africa. It was incredible because one of the readings was in Swahili, others were in Polish and Spanish.

As a member of a cathedral choir, I have had the honor and pleasure to sing at many ordinations. (And, we have ordained two Vietnamese priests for our diocese and sang the litany refrain in Vietnamese!) Before the choir loft was rebuilt we sat facing the congregation. It was always one of the most profound things to see the newly ordained priest blessing and giving his parents the Eucharist. The looks on the parent’s faces are beatific.

It’s not an ordination, but I’ll be singing in the choir at a newly-ordained priest’s first Mass next Sunday. 🙂

Last week, I got to see seven new priests being ordained for our archdiocese…it was the most amazing, beautiful thing I have ever seen. I nearly cried at parts. Our friend Marty (Now Fr. Marty!!) was being ordained that day…we had two busses from our parish going. I went with some other friends to save seats for people…but he looked like a deer caught in headlights, his eyes were THAT big, but he had the biggest, brightest, smile I had ever seen. It was truely beautiful…and I feel very fortunate that I could attend. I had been really struggling in my faith, and this is really helping me get on the right track.

I have never been to one, but I just heard word from an old friend, that I have not been in touch with for the last 10 years, that he will be ordained on June 9th and give his first Mass the next day. He asked for prayers. Please pray for Michael and that he will do well at his first Mass. I wish I could be there, but was not invited. I pray that our Lady will keep her close to her heart that day. He has a great love for her. He will be ordained in New York.

call his church or diocese or something. i’m sure they’ll be able to help you if you say you’re his old friend. it is his very special day and i’m sure he would love for you to be there! 😃

Thanks, it is to late. It was today at 1 p.m. and it is now 5 p.m. and so I am too late. I did pray for him all day starting in the morning. He asked for prayers and I will do that for him. Tomorrow, I will keep him in prayer also as it celebrates his First Mass.

call him maybe? or visit. both, now and then even. it can get very stressful and exhausting for them, especially in the beginning. they can appreciate an old friend whom they can relax around, instead of filling the role of the priest all the time…
