Do any of you guys keep dozing off during the daytime, too? As long as I keep moving (standing up, walking around, exercising) I’m perfectly awake. But then if I sit down for any reason, I start dozing off no matter what I’m doing.

I’ve dozed off while working, before–I’ll be mending books–a fairly mentally active procedure, but my body will try to sleep, and next thing I know I wake up with a jolt and realize I had stopped applying tape mid-motion. Especially during homilies. Rest of Mass, I’m quite okay, but during homilies, I will despite my best effort to stay awake, will fall asleep sitting up. I don’t know how long I nap, but then I’d wake up suddenly. (Thank goodness I can fall asleep frozen in position–no embarassing falling over in the pew). I’ve actually have fallen asleep driving if I drive for too long of a distance–waking up and realizing I’ve traveled 100 yards without realizing or remembering it. (got pulled over once because of it–THAT woke me up!).

Often times, I’ll realize a sudden onset of fatigue, and then feel the urge to lay down or curl up and nap. A couple of times I fell asleep at my BF’s house–on his couch while talking with BF’s mom, or in the basement right after I use the Wii. Once I fell asleep while he was talking to me, and I was apparently acting delirious–he had asked me some questions and I answered while asleep. He realized that I was asleep, and later asked me if I remembered such and such question–I did not. (His mom was there and vouched the veracity of it).

I feel silly for being so sleepy during the daytime! I’ve been getting pretty good sleep, between 7-8 hours or so, lately. But I still have been very sleepy…just curious if any of y’all have experienced the same 😃 Or am I just crazy? 😉

I’ve dozed off during online conversations. 😉 When I was starting to work, I wouldn’t know a statute from a novel without three coffees and a couple of months afterward, I would pull 14 hours without a single coffee on some days without even thinking of one or dozing off or being drowsy. The body adjusts. I’d say chances are you have a sleeping problem. Ask your GP? Maybe you need to adjust your sleeping pattern.

You need to see a doctor, who can have you tested for all sorts of things that could be the issue. My mom used to get very sleepy during the day and it turned out she had Sleep Apnea, a condition in which she stops breathing at night, which causes you to wake up for a few minutes, but it’s such a short period of time that you don’t remember it. This makes you very tired in the morning because you’re not sleeping well, and can be fatal if you stop breathing for too long.

Go see a doctor.

I wish I could just doze off during the day!

But if you are not able to control it, then you might want to get it checked out professionally.

I know through college, I nearly fell asleep during some of the lectures, and I mean like, ‘falling out of my chair’ asleep! 😉

3 loooooooooong hours, with a zzzzzzzz professor, with even more zzzzzzzz powerpoint slides, with dim lights, and a slightly warm room.

I wasn’t the only one, LOL, some people had to be woken up occasionally, and boy did the professor never let them live it down. Actually, truth be told, he couldn’t really remember who it was after 2/3 weeks, and he had more impt things to consider, like how many sweetener pops to put in his coffee, but it was still funny 😉

Also, watch your diet. Sugar makes me really really tired. It peps me up for about 30 minutes but then I drop like a rock and get really tired. I have found I am more stable if I try to avoid it all together. BUT, it is a lot easier typing this than actually avoiding sugar. 😃

I used to fall asleep during homilies or if I sat down. I found out through tests that I was anaemic, had a dying thyroid, and was also celiac which in fact was the cause of the other problems. Each of these were managed successfully, but there are medical conditions that cause people to frequently fall asleep…and you may need the help of your doctor to ascertain whether you have some condition that requires management.

God bless you.

Falling asleep while driving is as dangerous as driving while drunk. This is serious, and needs to be addressed by you. See a doctor PRONTO! You could kill someone (or yourself) if you fall asleep while driving.

While anyone can fall asleep during less than thrilling homilies or sermons, falling asleep while driving is dangerous and could be a sign of potential narcolepsy, you should see your doctor immediately.
