Controversy sells. Pink has always been known to be edgy and controversial. She hasn’t come up with a hit song in a while, so she probably thought she needs to really push the envelope to get her name back out there. And here we all are!

The sad thing about celebs nowadays is that they don’t care what they’re doing to young minds. Many young girls looks up to female singers, and feel…well, if so and so says it feels good or is ok, then I should try it. Or there’s nothing wrong with it.

I still have not heard this song, since reading the thread, and I don’t desire to check it out on youtube. I don’t listen to pop music a whole lot–I probably have scrolled through the channels, have heard snippits, but couldn’t tell make heads or tails of it.

I just think that many singers don’t think all that deeply into the lyrics of a song etc…they just want to make a buck. They want to be the next sensation. I have always believed that those singers with real raw talent, could sing about basket weaving, and they’d be a hit.

Only if the adultery is being glorified or portrayed in a positive way. “I kissed a girl, and liked it” being sung by a girl is glorifying lesbianism.

ok, curiousity got to me…I listened to this tune earlier on youtube…and it’s not pink. it’s katy perry? never heard of her.

it has a good beat, i suppose. the lyrics are not that bad, not as over the top as i thought they would be, redundant, it’s like i suspected…a computer-synthesized voice, and scantilly clad chick in a video…whatta shock. there’s talent and then there’s mtv talent. need i say more? it does make it look like experimenting with immorality is ok, though…and glamorous.

God, please keep our youth to stay on the straight and narrow.

I first heard this song on the radio about a week ago on my way to work on the Public Transport Bus. The bus was full of adults and kids going to school. Nobody seemed to bother about it, it was a nice tune and I found the song quiet silly. At the end of the day it is just a song. And kids today are not into this kind of music they listen to Hannah Montana, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Mariah Carrey, Jordin Sparks, Keyshia Cole, Tpain etc.

That is the problem with people today they base their lives on movies, soapies and songs. I have 2 kids a boy 10 and girl 8 and they were listening to the song on MTV I did not rush to switch it off because they would have asked me a 1001 questions. They did not bother with it, it was just a song and did not mean anything to them. Maybe becoz my kids like Hannah Montana, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Ne-Yo so they were not really interested in the song.

My kids have been taught what is right and wrong. And they ask me questions. And also at school this topics are discussed. So they know what Gay/Lesbian is and that it is wrong. I am not going to shelter my chidren from the world that when they are exposed to this things they do not know how to react. Drugs and alcohol I speak about to my kids. I am always honest with my kids about anything. I am not going to sugar coat things. I did that for too long with the especially about why their father left after been married for 13 years. The psychologist told me to be honest and truthful with my kids and they can trust me to come and talk to me about anything.

Everybody has their opions about things. The song is wrong and if you do not like it then change it. The same about the decisions we make in life Adultery is wrong there is no overlooking that. Gay/Lesbian is wrong and we cannot overlook it.

The thing that annoys me the most about this song is that she says “I kissed a girl just to try it” and then she goes on to sing that she has a boyfriend. So she is toying with two people with one action. Can she be more selfish!!

I hate this song and the thing I hate most about it is that I know most of the lytrics to it because it is always on the radio. Complete waste of my memory and maybe after I memorize some rules of evidence for class it will replace the lyrics and I will forget them.

Here’s how out of touch I am. I just heard the song a couple of days ago when my patient was watching VH1 in her room. It started with the obnoxious melody that I did my best to ignore while doing what I do. As the lyrics started, I looked up at the TV and was completely unable to restrain myself from saying “what in the name…?”

Stupid song, all about some girl trying to get a guy’s attention, as far as I’m concerned. And that’s what all of this is about. Girls kissing girls is just the next nadir in the degradation of women for the pleasure of hyper-sexed “men” (perhaps better to call them boys…). Not that women are unwilling victims of this…of course. Happily dehumanizing themselves into pieces of meat, they are. The “pornification” of society, as I heard one person call it (can’t remember who, at this time).

Of course, this song not only insults my moral sensibilities, but also my musical sensibilities. It grates on the nerves. The tune just makes me…angry.

Ah well, makes me glad I don’t listen to the radio. I’ll just turn on the Stevie Ray Vaughn CDs. My biggest worry is that my poor stepdaughter is over at her mother’s house listening to that lousy song right now. And I can do nothing about it. Except pray, and try to be a better example when she is with us.

Uhm Soft Cell was the FIRST openly gay band/singer! of the 80’s movement!! Even before Freddy Mercury of Queen (yes I know 70’s music but still didn’t come out publicly 'til the 80’s) came out! Yes, I admit I like Marc Almond (singer of Soft Cell) from my 80;s days.

WG Pink sings the one I mentioned way earlier in the thread with the ‘it’s just you and your hand tonight’ lyrics… I’m sure you can find it on you tube as well.

JUST and FYI to anyone who is saying this stuff is ‘art’, vast majority of these people don’t even write their own songs or lyrics. They are manufactured by song writers and lyricists who work for record companies, and they are VERY IN TUNE with what is going on socially, with a certain age ‘demographic’, that they are specifically trying to target. Don’t be fooled into thinking this in anything more than about the jing$$$$$ To call this trash art is an insult to art and artists who are truly talented and use their talents to edify the human person, even if by expressing the darker side of the human experience. We need to teach kids to recognize and appreciate REAL art, and REAL talent. I will not have certain songs on in my car anymore than I will hang certain painting in my home. There’s good and bad art, in all forms. We need to be responsible for teaching our kids that, so when they hear some drivel like Mylie Cyrus or Pink or what have you, that they don’t find it as appealing, because the alternative is so much MORE attractive. :twocents:

I’ve been playing the flute for let me see…almost 25 years, and I don’t even get to be recognized as a professional, or even a major talent much less a super star, that is how much effort and WORK it takes to be a real musician. Call these kids ‘stars’ but do not call them artists. Take away their clothes, make up, and everyone who works behind the scenes to make them LOOK talented or whatever you want to call it, they probably can’t sing happy birthday any better than my 4 yr old.
