Someone in the ever growing thread linked to Redemptionis Sacramentum which I hadn’t even heard of before but finally gives me a way to know for sure what’s right and wrong in the liturgy. There was always one particular thing that bothered me (not at my home parish, but half the time when I’m at another parish 'cause I’m far from home on a saturday night or whatever)
[72.] It is appropriate “that each one give the sign of peace only to those who are nearest and in a sober manner”. “The Priest may give the sign of peace to the ministers but always remains within the sanctuary, so as not to disturb the celebration. He does likewise if for a just reason he wishes to extend the sign of peace to some few of the faithful”
Cheers to the person who linked the page and now if I see this again I know what to do.

Hi. If you haven’t read the whole document yet, I highly recommend it. It’s excellent reading.
