I heard a pastor tell the followiing story in his message one day about a man who discovered just how surprising God’s works can be:

There was a man who had a deep faith in God. One year, there was a severe rainstorm where he lived, and the entire town was beginning to flood. Believing Jesus would save him from drowning, he prayed.

Later on, a neighbor drove by on a tractor and offered to give him a ride. The man told his neighbor that it wasn’t necessary, because God would save him.

As the flood waters rose, the man was forced to move to the seconds story of his house. While their, another neighbor passed by, this time rowing in a boat. This second neighbor offered him a ride out. The man said, no, thank you, God would save him.

The flood waters continued to rise. Eventually, the man was on his roof, clinging to his chimney. A rescue team in a helicopter came and told him he needed to leave right away. He told them God would save him.

The flood eventually rose so high, the man found himself facing God that very day. He asked, “Lord, I have always believed in you and I prayed for you to save me. Why didn’t you answer?”

And God replied, “My son, I did answer. I sent the tractor, the the canoe, and the helicopter.”

God sometimes sends a neighbor if we need rescuing. If we are ill, sometimes he sends a doctor. He gives each person gifts and talents that they may use to do his work on earth. If I recall scriptures correctly, he did a great deal of healing, and allowed his disciples to do some as well.
Thank you for that little story!!

Living worldly…easy. Living as a Born Again Christian…hard. I don’t expect you to understand it. Paul understood it. Philippians 1:23: “For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:” You need to be SAVED.

Again, I do not necessarily expect you to understand. Thank you for your prayers. I pray God hears them.
Hmmmm!! Many protestants I know are very materialistic. Isn’t that wordly? They (people I personally know who are protestant) are lovers of money, and material things. They don’t like the hard life and want easy street.

Yup!! Easy street. One protestant minister told me that stealing a pencil is just as sinful as murder. Join his church and one is saved. Sin doesn’t matter. That is easy street. If you want the tougher road, become a Catholic and stay true to Christ.

And I don’t expect you to understand.

Hey lets not beat up on NiceFundamental so much. There is some truth in what he says. Anti-Depressants definately have their downsides. I know this after 6 years of being on them. 6 emotionless years later and also about 85 pounds later I stopped them and discovered I had not grown spiritually or mentally one inch since them. I was using them as a crutch. There is nothing wrong with taking meds, but they by no means are the best or only solution. Sometimes God can use illness to bring us closer to him.

Please keep charity to a maximum, and afford every poster the benefit of the doubt that they have the best intentions at heart.

Additionally, please stay on topic and limit arguments about faith, doctrines and dogmas to the Apologetics forum.

Hang in! My husband had a lot of trouble finding a decent associateship after he graduated. One place paid him $30 a day!

I will pray that you find work in your field. I think you will find that when you do, it will be even sweeter because you had to wait for it.

In the meantime, see your doctor. There is no shame in being depressed. I have suffered from it myself, and I really believe that without the medication at the time I needed it, I may have been worse off.

God bless you and keep you close!

Thank you everybody for your support. I have actaully been ill the past few days. Doctor thought it was an ulcer, but turns out to have been an intestinal virus.

I didn’t intend to start such a debate, but its nice to know there are so many people out there that are passionate about their faith… There is a lot I can learn from you all.

I spent Wed - Sat throwing up and with severe stomach pain. I just kept telling myself that I should take something positive away from it. Yesterday, I ate a sandwich, and was able to keep it down… and I slept for 5 hours straight last night… sounds like a small thing but I was very grateful for the rest. Anyway, today I feel much better, and actually feel optimistic about the upcoming week…

Thanks again everyone.
