Well, that’s where the risk vs. reward thought process comes into play. If he’s willing to risk that the friendship cools significantly, then he should go for it. If not, he should keep his mouth shut.The OP has stated that he is friends with her.
This means she is aware that he knows she has a boyfriend.
How would it not be weird and, frankly, disrespectful to her if he decides to ask her out anyway?
“Why are you asking me out? You know I have a boyfriend.”
How would he respond to that? How would their friendship survive without any awkward feelings existing.
If any of my guy friends decided to ask me out when they knew I was with my boyfriend, now husband, they would be weird and I probably wouldn’t feel comfortable around them anymore.
I certainly would not be offended to be asked on a date if I had a boyfriend. I’d say “no” if I wasn’t interested and “yes” if I thought the guy was an upgrade. Really not a big deal.
