Greetings,
Mediator Dei is a Document on the Liturgy from 1947. It is excellent!! I am rereading it and it is exciting. The beginning of Sacrosanctum Concilium from Vat II(On the Nature of the Liturgy) is basically a summary of this document. In SC #14 speaks of full, conscious active participation of the liturgy-- read closely, it says according to the nature of the liturgy.
It spent 13 paragraphs giving the nature of the liturgy: Jesus is our high priest offering sacrifice, the heavenly and earthly dimensions, sacramental, sacrificial, covenental dimensions.
This means that full conscious active participation, means above all being aware of and entering into the theological mysteries of the mass.
Please find a copy and read mediator dei: I will help you understand mass, and help to understand the theology of vat II.
peace
