what oh what could this meaning be? what should we look at the word to mean? And to what actions would be taken to ensure it?

what is a broken heart, and how could we heal ourselves?

My answer is that only time heals from any broken heart or loss of a loved one.

Some people find it easy to say, “I love you” and they really mean it at the time but then later on they change their minds when they find out the relationship or friendship is not compatiable.

Some people can love you forever and some can only love for a short time.

Some people try to be loving but they don’t have it in them to love unconditionally.

There are so many things to say about love. This subject is endless.
Do remember that GOD IS LOVE and God loves us all unconditionally. That should make you feel better.
We…as people have flaws and sometimes it is really hard to truly love someone or love ourselves.

Since Valentine’s Day will be here soon this is a good subject to talk about. Hugz, Luci

Bishop Sheen has a lecture on “Love” and how we only have one word for three different kinds of love.

I love chicken and I love something in a way that is self-sacrificing and giving are to different things using the same word,

To mention another thing that Bishop Sheen said that relates to broken hearts.

“Every man makes promises to woman that only God can keep. And every woman makes promises to man that only God can keep.”

The broken heart is what happens when the crushing pressure of making someone else into god is finally too much to bear.

Is Bishop Sheen…well has he been on the radio? his lecture atleast, cause I thought I heard something similar towards this a few days before the 14th.

I don’t know if it was on the radio recently or not. I rarely listen to the radio.

But you might be able to find it on other sites for free though the quality of the freebies I’ve found to be a little less than at Keep the faith.
 
This is is response to the broken heart question. Here’s another bit of wisdom from Bishop Sheen, because that’s the theme apparently. I’ve paraphrased this before. He says you can’t just take the pain out of your heart, or the memories from your mind. You have to “crowd” them out; replace them with something else. Pray for the desire to love and serve God; practice it. Maybe your focus will shift and your new love will crowd out thoughts of the old one. Other than that, in my experience only time and distance can heal a broken heart.

Really, that is simply obeying the first commandment. Oftentimes, especially the young put romance for each other ahead of God and make the relationship a false god.

Fr. Vincent Miceli once used the phrase 'the crushing weight of making a human into a god."

You can only handle a relationship and a human love when it is built on a foundation rooted in God.

Memorize and pray this quote of St. Pius X and you’ll get all the help you need to heal a broken heart.

*“My hope is in Christ, who strengthens the weakest by His Divine help. I can do all in Him who strengthens me. His Power is infinite, and if I lean on him, it will be mine. His Wisdom is infinite, and if I look to Him for counsel, I shall not be deceived. His Goodness is infinite, and if my trust is stayed in Him, I shall not be abandoned.” *
 
Good comments so far. Often God is showing us that we must put our faith in Him alone. Humans and human institutions can only let us down at some point. No matter how much we love someone and vice versa, there will be times that we are hurt. Age and wisdom have taught me that, and that our Lord is the only real Rock.
