sorry sir, i asked here because i know here will be much helpful than facebook.

The official Church view is that if you’re not married in the eyes of the Church, then you’re free to go date and marry whoever
I think that the issue here is dishonesty, not “cheating” as in adultery. I agree with you that cultural norms have no moral weight in and of themselves, but people reasonably rely on them. If you’re going to adhere to the older norms (which may well be better), I do think you need to make that clear. If someone makes a foreseeable assumption and you don’t bother to disabuse them of that when you easily could, I do think that’s at least a cousin of dishonesty.

So if your story is true, pray to G-d. Only He will hear your prayers, don’t go to a Priest, don’t see a Pastor
I get that you’re not Catholic, but I dont think you should be giving this advice on a Catholic forum. If the OP is Catholic, and the story is true, he’ll almost certainly need to confess to a priest.

But when you promise to date only one person and break it by dating without telling your partner, you’re sinning. It’s not adultery, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to do that. If someone wants to date around, they simply just have to inform their partner before doing so…or break up. Simple!
I haven’t said anything any different through the whole thread. I said, don’t lie. The lie is the sin. Not the cheating.

So I’m not sure why you felt it was necessary to make this point to me. Whatever. Have a nice day.

Understand that as a male, you’re bond to fail. It is that which makes you both male and human. Note that even the greatest tzadik can fall for seduction. The thing is, we can all learn from it. But women also have the power to heal, and you should accept that healing as it emanates from the Creator above. So again, I advise you talk with G-d and with her, and if she is a healer, she’ll do what’s best for you.

Nonetheless, you deserve more nachas than this.

Well, maybe so. I don’t get why people are flipping out over this though, and someone even asked if you rapped her (not sure if you noted that, you should respond though and clarify); as to why they’d ever ask that, its beyond me.
Because he said he made her do things. In the English language, that could mean he forced her to do something she didn’t want to do.

As for “drop the whole thing, she isn’t worth it”, you condone a 30-year-old man talking a virgin seven years younger into having sex with him outside marriage, telling her he doesn’t believe in virginity before marriage? And then you say SHE isn’t worth it? You shouldn’t be calling yourself “Rabbi” and just dismissing that sort of treatment of women. You just lost all credibility with me.

No, you misrepresent me. First off, the notion that we men treat women differently in Judaism is bogus. Dealt with it before on here. Secondly, I’m saying he is to drop her if she’s not true to him, as she’d cheat him all the same. You said the very same thing, sorry to remind you.

You need to understand where I’m coming from though, we believe that there is absolutely no intermediary between G-d and man, since G-d isn’t a man. Let him decide for himself, but he honestly needs to speak with G-d. What can a Priest do? Does he really have more connection to G-d? Can he really annul sin? I thought your faith said only Jesus could? When did the Church decide that a Priest could? I don’t mean to ask this in an insulting manner, but out of pure curiosity
I think this is outside the scope of the discussion here. There are a million threads and essays on the sacrament of confession. I don’t really want to re-litigate it here.

You’re more than welcome here as a non-Catholic, but I don’t think you should give advice that specifically contradicts the Church.

I can’t follow what you are saying at this point.

I also notice you told the OP not to talk to a priest. That is against Catholic teaching and therefore inappropriate advice to be giving on this forum. Based on the OP’s own admission he has committed a sin that may be serious and he should confess.

Basically to bring up this point that was probably better articulated.
I do think anyone adhering to the old rules of “if you’re not engaged, there’s no promise of exclusivity” should at least make that clear, since most people are going to make a pretty understandable assumption that they’re in an exclusive thing at a certain point.
The cheating is technically the lie though. Unless you’re using cheating and adultery interchangeably.

It does contradict the church because the church already teaches the concept of confession.

If you’re interested in a debate about confession, creating a specific thread would be more helpful.

I thought we finished with this point, several posts ago. Why are you making the same point over and over? I’m not responding any more as I have already said everything I had to say in the last 5 posts and I don’t want to repeat myself.

Ok, you could be a little less nicer next time and call me something worse than a “goofball” (sarcasm not intended). I asked you a serious question though which you failed to respond, because if it isn’t in Tanakh, stay away from it. I will maybe make another thread for this issue. My question though: why can’t he go directly to G-d? What teaching are you talking of? How can man hold to keys to forgiveness? Assuming this is entirely New Testament then.
You’re asking me to explain a Catholic belief while simultaneously asking me to base the argument on a fundamentally un-Catholic assumption: Old Testament or bust. Of course I can’t do it. It would be like me asking you to justify Jewish practice without drawing on any Jewish sources. You’re not asking a coherent question.

The thread has unfortunately been hijacked, by me even.

I do think it’s best if you start a thread about this so more people can participate and give you the answers you’re curious about.

I feel my questions deserves a response and to be taken seriously, after all, you’re basing your whole life on something which can’t be found in Tanakh is a serious matter (sorry, my opinion). Again, I don’t mean to sound rude or anything, it’s just an honest question
You’re basically asking “why Christianity?” If that’s really your question, you should probably make your own thread, because it’s way beyond what we’re talking about here.
