I missed Mass yesterday on All Soul's Day

because I didn’t know we had Mass on that day!!! I’m a new Catholic and all the Masses on certain days and all the Feast days mess me up. I can never remeber when they are… It WAS in the bulletin and I just didn’t see it
Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can remember all these days??? Thanks for the help!!!

All souls day is not a Holy day of obligation, All saints day (which was on the 1st) was. Holy days of obligation are mentioned on the calendar (next to the profile button)

It wasn’t intentional - no harm done. What helps me is to have a Catholic Calendar, it will list all the Holy Days of Obligation.

uk, one thing you may not be aware of (based on my understanding of you posts; I’m sorry if I’m wrong), is that there are Masses held every single day. You may attend Mass every day if you are able to, but Catholics are only required to attend on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.

It wasn’t intentional - no harm done. What helps me is to have a Catholic Calendar, it will list all the Holy Days of Obligation.

See if your parish gives these out free at the end of the year. Ours does and it’s super helpful to have a standard calendar, but with all the feasts written in. It even indicates which ones are obligatory.

In addition to Sunday, the days to be observed as holy days of obligation in the Latin Rite dioceses of the United States of America, in conformity with canon 1246, are as follows:

August 15, the solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary;
November 1, the solemnity of All Saints;
December 8, the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception;
December 25, the solemnity of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Whenever January 1, the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, or August 15, the solemnity of the Assumption, or November 1, the solemnity of All Saints, falls on a Saturday or on a Monday, the precept to attend Mass is abrogated.

You also might want to check in your church bulletin. Usually a parish will have more than one Mass on a Holy Day of Obligation. For instance, my parish only has one Mass at 7:30 am Monday through Friday if there are no Holy Days. For a Holy Day, my parish has Mass the night before (Vigil) at 7 pm; then on the Holy Day, there are 3 Masses (7:30 am, 12 pm, and 7 pm). The schedule in the bulletin also says that it is a Holy Day of Obligation.

It’s ok since you didn’t know what the days were. (There are more, too) At RCIA, we got a list of Holy Days of Obligation on Oct. 30th, so for me, since I don’t drive, I wasn’t able to get a ride for the Nov. 1st Mass.

Some, like the one I go to, will have a 10am one, which is for the parish school.

just and idea and i do not have the program writing skills to do this but…

some one should write a program that syncs directly with people’s PDA’s that inserts all the Holy Days, feast days, etc. with an alarm. i think it would really help those folks who can’t remember anything unless it is written down.

That is a great idea. I do not have the program writing skills to do this either, but perhaps somebody here does. Perhaps you could mention this on the suggest new projects forum.
