We have a 14 cup Cuisinart that I love. The coffee is good & hot. Before that we had a Merlitta Grind & Brew 10 cup. I liked the Merlitta but 10 cups were not enough for us (DH drinks alot of coffee) & after two years it started spitting out coffee from all areas:shrug: 😊 ! Anyway, we love the Cuisinart & what ever coffee we don’t drink, I put it in a pitcher in the fridge to make delicious iced coffee. My favorite coffee right now is the Folgers Vanilla Biscotti. My friend gave me some Cinnamon Coffee from Gevalier that was really good, too.

OH! my gosh thank you for all the great leads on makers.

I’m def going to check out the Gevalia thing…a free coffee maker? for real???

Brenda, I do indeed LOVE LOVE and love some more my french press, and I’ll be keeping it and using it occasionally because it does absolutely make the very best tasting coffee possible. Which, is good and bad because I need to drink less of it, and have been trying to especially while I’m loosing some weight.

BUT, I need something more automated and less hands on for mornings. Something I can set the night before even.

I have to say I’m all drooly over this idea:D
We have a Cuisinart Coffee on Demand and everyone who sees it, wants one. There is no pot. The coffee is retained in the pot and has a toggle switch to release the coffee. You can program how long you want the coffee to stay hot. Great pot. If it ever goes bad, I would want another one just like it.
After I go shovel some more I’m going to online shop it…see what I come up with.šŸ‘

The Gevalia coffee is really good too, and the print catalogs are fun to browse through.

I’m a tea drinker now, but back in the day when I was a coffee drinker I loved my Gevalia!!

I definitely prefer the insulated carafe type to the kind that keep heating the coffee. If you’ve got a brain like mine, you wind up with that burned coffee stink all over the house, a couple of times a week. The carafe keeps it warm and tasty - and it’s portable. You don’t have to get up to get another cuppa!

I’ve never put my carafe in the dishwasher, or soaked it in a sink. I got one of those dish-mop thingys made with string, and use it only for the carafe. Hot soapy water in, soak, brush out with the mop. Piece a cake.

Ours is a Mr Coffee, and it can be set to make it at a certain time. But we just punch the ā€œbrewā€ button.

HTH,

Ruthie

What coffee maker can y’all recommend I get?

I’m abandoning my french press and haven’t had a drip coffee maker in years, so I have no idea what to buy.

I have a coffee grinder, so I don’t need a grind and brew one, and I have filtered water so I don’t need one with a built in filter.

I do however like the idea of one that brews into a thermal carafe type job, so if anyone knows of a good one let me know.

Oh, I’d also like to order it online, not schlep to a store. No time and snowing here for the next couple days means I want to drive as little as possible.

I know all you coffee junkies will lead me down the right path:p
DH drinks coffee, I don’t. We have a Hamilton Beach Stay Or Go. It has a stainless steel insulated carafe and two travel mugs. You can brew right into 1 mug, 2 mugs, or the carafe. It has a timer, too.

It was one of the few models I could find that didn’t use those ā€œpodā€ things. Those seemed expensive to me. This one just uses regular ground coffee and has a gold mesh filter.

In desperation (being up so early the stores aren’t open), I have been known to line a strainer with filters and build my own drip coffee maker.:coffee: ā¤ļø :coffeeread:

Espresso maker and milk foamer šŸ‘ .

I got this set a year ago and LOVE it. Not regular coffee, I know, but so good!
We have one of those espresso pots. I love it. We use a drip coffee maker in the mornings (with automatic shut-off because we’re notorious for forgetting to switch off the machine), but if I want a cup later in the day the espresso pot is awesome. It’s so easy.

We’ve taken our French press on camping trips for the last two years, and it makes really great coffee, but cleaning the grounds out of that metal screen is a HUGE pain on a campsite. I wonder if maybe the espresso pot wouldn’t be a better choice- just pop that on the Coleman stove, and then I’d just have to dump and rinse the grounds cup. Anyone else have coffee tips for campers?

When I’m not too lazy, i do this too. Only tip is that, if you like your iced coffee sweetened, add the sugar while the coffee is still hot (and add more than you would for your hot coffee).

If I only have a little coffee left you can make coffee ice cubes to add to your iced coffee or other cold drinks:thumbsup:**

they can have my french press when they pry it from my cold dead hands.

Although the Drips are the easiest way to go now days. Nothing beats the ā€œOld time simple Coffe Potā€ that goes on your stove.

As it perks, the coffee smell is Wonderful and truely the coffee taste better. If you have a gas stove, it will make coffee just as fast as a drip. I know this for a fact as I also have a drip and have started both at the same time, for when we have lots of company.

Then you get a thermo coffee carf. Ahh…fresh hot coffee, just like the old days.

My vote… A cheap Stove Top Coffee Pot. Just put the water/filter/coffee the night before and turn the stove on as you head for the bathroom…the smell will be of great coffee.

The Gevella Coffee maker is good too and their coffee is great. I’ve had that too before.

Well don’t leave us hanging!!! You have to let us know what you got!! 😃

hehe:D I took your lead liza and got the gevalia one for free!! We shall see how it goes…I’m not going to use the coffee though, I have a real obsessive thing with grinding my own beans, but my mom will be glad to use the ground gevalia she says.

I almost ordered the cuisinart coffee on demand one, but it got me thinking ti might have me drinking more, and I don’t want that;)

I’m also keeping my french press in close proximity just in case.

ETA: dang it! now going back and reading more I’m enthralled with the idea of the espresso maker. I’m so drawn to that kind of good old fashioned thing…I’ll bet it tastes awesome too…ARGH! I may just have to get myself one, and he steamer. I’ll send the bill to CAF:D

You can get Gevalia in whole bean!! Look again and see if you can update your order!! 😃

Hope you like it!!!

~Liza

you can??? I’ll see if I can change it! Thanks:bowdown:
Yep!!! See THIS PAGE for example. 😃

Now - with the free coffee pot deal you may not be able to choose, but it would be worth a phone call to them to see if they can help you out and get you the whole bean. šŸ‘
