I like your hair as is too WG, but I know that we women know that to maintain a hairstyle you have to get it cut, so you could just get a trim and I think you’d look great:thumbsup:

I have to put in my two cents about color…please don’t do blonde highlights, with your dark hair that would look like zebra stripes. The ‘chunky’ highlights thing is OUT anyway. But, maybe some nice rich tonal low lights would be nice if you were going to color.

Something like this as far as color goes, and the cut is nice too!

*Thanks Joe, is it me or have you ladies noticed that men like simple/plainer/non trendy styles? My husband like my hair to just hang…with simple bangs. 🤷 I am seeing a pattern here with Joe’s comment… 😃

shanny–I love those pics…the one on the left, I don’t want to go that short right now…but, the one on the right is adorable! I don’t know if my hair would do that though…I have thick hair, she might need to thin it out quite a bit to get that layered look. But, thanks for the pics…I plan to show them to my stylist. I am going in 2 weeks…wish me luck! 😃

Galnextdoor–thank you for your kind words! I love that actress by the way, she has always had very long hair (in Big Love) but I love her new look! I noticed your profile pic one day…your haircut is so cute…it looks short…it that a bob, or how is that cut? *

*I like that pic…I actually had that last year, shorter in the back…like way stacked. 😊 I am kind of over that now…can’t wear it any other way!

I like the color there…I don’t mind spending money for a good haircut, nails…but something about becoming enslaved to a stylist for color…I just don’t want to be paying and arm and a leg. Thanks for the advice! 👋*

You could always go the Britney Spears route and just shave it off. Nothing like a fresh new start for that hair right???:D:p

Hope you like hats too.

 Can you imagine? That would be the cheapest route, by far. 😃

I hear you, I don’t color my hair either for the same reason, can’t afford it or afford to maintain it. I think your natural color is really nice 🙂

“whatevergirl” You and me BOTH. 😃 I think your current hairstyle is nice. I’ve been considering a similar style, to what you have now. I don’t care for the short, choppy styles… myself.

Right now, I wear my hair long and strait (below my shoulders). And [probably because I’m part Native American] my hair is also very thick. We currently live in the southeastern U.S., where the summer feels like 3-5 months in a steam sauna. So, I have to constantly tie my hair up. Wearing it down… feels like I have a heavy wool blanket over my head, neck and shoulders. :coolinoff:

Where did you get your current cut?.. if I may ask.

*Hi Marie 👋

The cut you see in the pic is a grown out style…I had this exact look done back last year–I think it was October.

The funny thing was, that the stylist was correcting a botch job from another stylist. To my surprise, I loved this style, but also miss some length…So, really, I had it done at a regular local salon, but this is grown out, now.

If your hair is thick and you find a talented stylist, this look will look fabulous on you. You can do a longer version–if you look at my profile pic, (I’m wearing glasses) you might see a better angle of it. The shot in this thread makes it look like it’s one length all the way around, but it is cropped in the back. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I think I’m going to go for a trim, thinning out, and maybe a thicker bang…👍 Thanks for the ideas everyone. :o

*the hedgehog haircut…morwenna has coined a new hairdo term! :rotfl:

Can you see it…heading into the salon…um, yes, I think I’ll have the hedgehog today.

lol The looks would be priceless.

tundramom–so do you spend an arm and a leg? Do you think blond highlights would look…ok on me? I hadn’t really given it much thought, but people are telling me to try it…friends of mine. Hmmm…maybe I’m missing out on something here! */
I don’t spend a lot on highlights. Mine cost $60 each time I get them done, but I usually get them done only three times a year. If you have more than one color highlights then they grow out better and you don’t end up looking like you need them done again.

I think you need to try it! Especially if you don’t do a drastic change, I think some caramel highlights and maybe add some that are more blonde into the mix would be great!

Caramel highlights, that sounds so pretty. The pic I post above, she sort of looks like she has those highlights, too. Thanks for the advice!! 🙂

Yeah, the cut pictured above is really cute. Although, it’s a bit shorter than I’d probably go. Still, it’s not really what I would call “short and croppy” (like the spikey looking “do”). I’ll skip the tatoo, down my neck too. 😃 Hmm… maybe I’ll get brave, and give this cut a try. I hope no one calls me a “hedgehog” though… :rotfl: that made me laugh!

Fun thread, thanks “WEG”.

*Aw, you’re such a sweetie, Trishie. :hug1: I agree, while I really like the kate look, I would probably have to live at the hairsalon…shorter styles are easier at first, but then they grow a little, and they lose their shape so quick. I really like yours by the way in your profile pic, it’s very elegant. *
As someone who HAS the “Kate” hairstyle, (and has worn it for years before Kate had it), it is the easiest thing on EARTH. My hair grows super fast, so, I need a trim every 5-6 weeks, but, if it goes 7-8 it still looks good.

The best product for this style - far better than the pricy salon stuff - is Fructic (spelling?) Fiber Gum. It is in a green ball shaped jar, less than $4 at Wal Mart. I like it better than the $20+ Redkin Manipulator. My second favorite is a Bed Head product, name fails me right now.

Anyway, I get up, wash it, towel dry it and can either hit it with a blow dryer for a couple of seconds or just put in place with my fingers. Then when dry smooth some product through and I am set to go.

When it gets long in back, I blow dry with some root lift.

I now keep the bang/front part shorter, the long bangs look great but tend to bother me.

This style only works for thick hair, so, it looks like yours would do great.

kage your hair looks TONS better than Kate’s. Yours is very cute. Maybe The odd thing about Kate’s is not the spiky back but the way it looks contrasted with the looooooooooong and very straight front.

kage, I have never seen your hairdo…can you post it? Or pm me? I’d be interested in seeing! 🙂

The bangs were short and the back/top were a bit long, but, the pic in my profile here is from Easter Vigil 2 years ago.

*Oh no, not another hair thread. 😛 Well, here is a recent pic of me (taken last weekend), my current hairstyle.

http://forums.catholic-questions.org/picture.php?albumid=103&pictureid=1739*

It’s growing out from a much shorter look I had last year (that ‘posh’ look, remember that rave?) I don’t really feel like I want to go that short again, my dh would like to see me grow it long (here we go), but it’s really time consuming when long…and weights me down. He likes it this length, also, but you can’t see it in this pic, it’s shorter in the back. It’s like 3 styles in one.

I like Kate Gosselin’s hairstyle-the woman from Jon and Kate Plus 8. My dh just looked at me like… :ehh: It is similar to what I had last year, hers is a bit choppier.

I feel like a need a new look–what do you think would look good on me? (can you post some pics to give me a visual) Thanks everyone.
Naaah, naaah, second pic, no good at all! Categorize under Trying Too Hard.

Just layer yours the littlest bit and flip the ends up.

As a daughter of a beautician, I say you are in a great position to do either long or short with the frame of your face, which it why Kate Gosselin’s look would be nice, because the frames are similar. I wouldn’t discount fun chunky highlights for the summer, that is usually cool for a refreshing look.
