Faith is not inherent to our soul. Faith is a gift from God. Faith comes from hearing the Word, not from a natural internal thing.

Because, for souls in heaven they don’t need faith or hope. Love remains.

Some Christians do not believe that righteousness is in our soul.
They must believe that faith is not in our soul.
If there are biblical passages that state faith is in our soul, if would seem that rightousness is in our soul to, since faith makes us righteousl.

Ephesians 6: 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
I Thessalonians 5: 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
And we know from Romans 5: 5 that God pours love into our heart.

I’m not sure you can use the bible as an equation like that. Though I am sure that on some level faith and love do indeed equate righteousness; I do not think the breastplate is representative of our heart. Yes, love is put in our heart, poured there by God. The breastplate though is reminding us of a spiritual truth, that God defends us when we allow his fruit to be manifested through us.
Like a breastplate in battle, we protect ourselves by girding our body for war. A spiritual war. Just as in Wisdom it depicts God as a warrior arming for battle against evil, so too must we be armed for battle.

The ‘righteousness’ that we put on is not our own. The breastplate of righteousness is Jesus Christ. In Ephesians 6 it lists several pieces of armor and we can see that all of them ARE Jesus. The sword is the Living Word of God(Jesus), the breastplate is righteousness(again Jesus), and the belt of truth(again Jesus is truth.)
Then in Thessalonians we are reminded of that same truth. If you look at the start of the book we see again that Paul reminds them in the same words (faith, hope, and love) where there armor comes from:

In faith they abonded their pagan ways, turned from their idols, and worshipped the Living God (1:9)
In hope they have endured tribulation and trials longing for the Parousai and salvation (1:10; 5-9)
And in love, they have served each other as Jesus served while he was on earth, generously and with much self sacrifice (4:9-10)
Paul is calling them to keep themselves armed IN Jesus Christ. Not that they themselves have any inherent ability to defend against the enemy, but that their armor comes directly from God. That they must clothe themselves in virtue to protect themselves in the day to come.

CCC 1803: A virtue is an habitual and firm disposition to do the good. It allows the person not only to perform good acts, but to give the best of himself. The virtuous person tends toward the good with all his sensory and spiritual powers; he pursues the good and chooses it in concrete actions.
Virtues are the fruits of the grace of the Holy Spirit. Faith, Hope and Charity are the three theological virtues.
*CCC 1814: Faith is the theological virtue by which we believe in God and believe all that he has said and revealed to us, and that Holy Church proposes for our belief, because he is truth itself. *
Putting the two together, Faith therefor, is an habitual and firm disposition to believe everything God reveals to us through his Holy Church.
Can it be said that a “Firm disposition to believe what God has revealed to us” resides in our soul? Perhaps it would be more correct to say that Faith, like all the other virtues, proceedes from a soul which is in a state of sanctifying grace and inhabited by the Holy Spirit.

I do not have the time to look for the answers.
I have studied theology for thirty years, but do not have the time and energy to look up every idea, question and thougth that comes to my mind.
Also, with faith, it is in the soul as is justification. I just want a biblical passage. I have two brothers that hate the Catholic faith and always demand passages from the Bible.
I like to give them the passages before the ask.

“for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Rom 10:10)
verb ‘believeth’ is from same greek root (piesteuew) used for ‘faith’.

Can you define justification and rightchosnos without going to the Old Testament.
There is no way you can promote the NT if you don’t know the Olld.
I try to tell “sola scriptura” chirstians that there was NO New testament when St. Paul said use scripture and the TRADITION we have taught.
