I need an answer about this series of Joan of Arcadia

Spoiler alert. I watched the first season. It started off good, but the last few episodes went in the wrong direction, then she was diagnosed as sick and that was the cause of her hallucinations. I didn’t watch season two after this derailment.

It did kind. of feel like Quantum Leap in a way.

But we never were led to believe that was the cause of her visions from God. In fact, it was portrayed more as a dark night of the soul.
