Hello everyone. Does anyone know some kind of week long retreat or a place a teen could go for a week just to get away from all the frustrations and temptations of daily life…I feel that I just need a week of pure prayer and mass and religion…I need to rid myself of lustful thoughts, and mean thoughts and things like that…Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Also please share any prayer with me that you have time for…

Our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil AMEN.

In answer to your request for prayers

Jesus make me who I am

Dear Jesus, God dreamed and loved me into existence. Please be merciful to my Creator by ensuring that I fully live God’s dream of me. Help me to be the loving, delightful person whom God, out of love, created me to be. Please help me to become truly that person, so that others can experience Your love, goodness, and beauty in me, and can receive the blessings You intend for them through me.

Let me delight You, by being an open doorway into You for others. Let me be a living tabernacle of Your love, an overflowing crystal chalice of Your love, a powerhouse of prayer and an instrument of Your love and healing to others. Please Jesus, make me who I am in the dream God always had of me.

Harvest
Beloved Jesus—from the compost of my sins, failures, faults and omissions please enrich the soil that nurtures the harvest that You prepare of my being and life—for Your delight, and for others’ benefit.

From the flower and fruit of all grace and good sprung from You within me, please bountifully glorify Yourself and bless all whose lives touch mine!

Everything

My everything, our God, I give to You—every breath, each cell, all that I ever am, have or do.

Now I ask for Your everything—whatever You wish to give to me and to others through me.

Please nurture and grant this everything growth, blossom and fruit. Then that everything I do give to You—in time and eternity.

Tommy, I suggest asking your pastor to recommend a Catholic retreat house or Catholic monastery that accepts guests (such as the Benedictines).

Commitment

God, for sake of souls, I commit myself and my entire life—past, present and future—to Your mercy and love. I welcome Your unlimited power to use me, not merely finitely, but infinitely, in Your service.

Have mercy upon everyone You wish to benefit through me, and do not let my limitations or doubts curtail Your use of me as vehicle of blessing or vessel of honour.

My faults are fragile barriers to the flood of Your grace, as I live Your will and have faith in Your powerful love. I trust in Your love to accept this submission and make it complete. Deepen my trust in Your will to use Your limitless power of love even in me.

Contrition

God, I have sinned against others, against myself, and against You. I am unworthy to be Your child. I have offended Your goodness and Your dream of who I really am. I may have denied You the joy of blessings that You wish for me and for others through me. You alone know the entire consequences of my failure.

Yet Jesus assures us that You joyfully celebrate my return from sin, and run to welcome and reclaim me as Your own. I want to value myself as Your child, knowing that all worth and holiness comes from You.

In trust, I will not accuse myself for sins already forgiven and absolved or for temptation if I have not actually sinned. I believe that temptation can be overcome by Your grace, inspiring greater faithfulness to the Gospel and the Sacraments.

Look on those tasks of love and service that I fail to undertake or to complete, and bring them to completion. Please bring out of my failures, such fruits of these new opportunities enhanced beyond all previous expectation, for from our human betrayal of Your divine plan of Creation, Your mercy wrought the magnificent plan of redemption that reverberates through time and eternity!

In Your mercy, please transform into good all that in weakness or ignorance I may spoil. I want to give blessing that is abundant beyond original possibility, to anyone I ever harm or deprive.

May I so belong to You, may I be so transformed by Your love, that my faults no longer are sin or offence in Your sight and can foster nothing that impedes Your will. This, my soul in trusting confidence implores.

You asked for prayers. That’s enough prayers for one day!

Tommy, there might be an age restriction with monasteries and retreat centers - you’ll just have to call and find out - but there’s Subiaco Benedictine Abbey in NW Arkansas and Little Portion Retreat Center (Brothers & Sisters of Charity) outside Eureka Springs. There are others but I can’t remember them. You can google under ‘Catholic Retreat Centers Arkansas’ and ‘Catholic Monasteries Arkansas.’

I’m praying for you -

Tommy, I just saw your thread about confirmation names and have another thought for you about retreats - Many convents take retreatants, in part because most orders desperately need vocations. Years ago I lived in Little Rock near Mount Saint Mary’s on Kavanaugh. I checked on the internet and the academy is still there but I didn’t see whether there was still a convent or not. St. Scholastica in Fort Smith has a convent. There are probably others as well. The wonderful thing about individual retreats is that there’s usually someone compassionate you can talk to who’ll understand.

I was also going to suggest these two: Subiaco Benedictine Abbey in NW Arkansas and Little Portion Retreat Center (Brothers & Sisters of Charity) outside Eureka Springs.

Knowing where you are in the state would help…

Coming up in November is the Region X Convention, that will be a long weekend trip to a big CYM Conference. This is where Hot Springs area youth can register. PM me if you are in the Hot Springs area 🙂 We volunteer with the youth group. hotspringscym.com/index.php?option=com_attend_events&task=view&id=12&Itemid=44

Or you could contact the Diocese and find out what youth groups in your area are going.

In Jaunary will be the huge Youth Extravaganza weekend leading up to March For Life in Little Rock. That is a do-not-miss event.

Over Mother’s Day weekend in the spring is the State CYM Convention in Little Rock, thousands of teens and great fellowship.
