So I am a member in another forum, and there is this thread about abortion. I am trying to present people with the truth, but they keep bringing this up: A case of a 12 year old girl with mental retardation who is raped? Would an abortion be morally legit in this situation? I know, the answer, but I need help in conveying this to them. So anyone that can, please help me out with this situation. should I even bother with this at all? Pray for me as well.

A 12 year old girl with mental retardation should be protected from attackers. That is the responsibility of her parents or guardians.

Should a horrible crime take place, the girl should be treated by experienced professional counselors and medical staff, as well as cared for by her Pastor. The parents or guardians should explore placing the newborn child for adoption.

The medical staff would make the best decision if a C-Section or vaginal delivery would be most appropriate.

Killing a baby does not un-rape anybody.

The 12 year old girl argument for abortion is a clasic one, I’ll tell you. Basically, the pro-choice individual tries to get you to rely on emotion rather than truth and reason. “Oh, the child is so young, and she didn’t know what was happening, so she shouldn’t have to give birth!” This emotional approach, of course, completely denies three facts:

1. She may not even get pregnant.
2. If she dose get pregnant, the child in her womb is much younger, less intelligent, and more vulnerable than her.
3. According to the most current scientific studies, life begins at conception, so the thing in her womb is not just a blob of cells but a real human being.

Now since the girl is carrying another human being in her womb, who has the same human right to life that she has, there is no excuse for abortion. To abort the child would be killing a life, and, if done deliberately with malice afterthought, it would be murder.

if your 12 year old daughter, no matter what her mental condition, was raped by my father, would that give you the right to murder me, an innocent 3rd party, simply because my father happens to be a sadistic rapist of children?

One emotional response I’ve heard is definitely usable. The baby is innocent of the rape; why should he/she be punished for it?

I also look at giving up the baby for adoption as a way to make a loving and positive gift out of a horrible event.

Of course, eugenics comes into play here. Some of the advocates of baby killing would be horrified by the thought that a 12 year old, retarded girl might actually want to *keep *her baby!

These folks always come up with the most extreme example to justify the other 99.9% of abortions.

To their way of thinking, you must prove every single situation is worthy of life and they must object to only one to allow all abortions.

Here’s another thing that is being brought up: If one finds out that a baby is going to die moments after birth(say the child will be born with most of it’s brain gone), is an abortion justified here? Forgive my ignorance, and please help me out more if at all possible.

the obvious answer is that God sets the term of a human life, not other humans. in what way would the abortion help the mother or the baby in this case? in no way

If I discovered that you had a blood clot and would drop dead within the next 60 seconds, would that entitle me to shove you out a window to your death? Nope. Still murder.

I would assume the reason why this argument is brought up is because those who believe in this believe that the 12 year old girl doesn’t deserve to be forced to have a child she didn’t want because it would be more traumatizing for her to go through with the pregnancy knowing that the child was a product of the rape than having an abortion.and that the child might not even understand what is going on. Also, people who use this argument tend to believe that a fetus is not a human being deserving the same rights as “real”, "living " ,human beings. They also assume that no help,emotonal, spirtual or medical, will be available to the child, and that a pregnancy at such a young age is always life threatening. And that they assume that she will have to face her dilemma on her own.

But that is just why I believe pro-death people would use such an argument.

Tell these people that the local Crisis pregnancy center will see to it that this homeless, orphan 12 year old girl has support.

Maybe if the pro aborts took more time caring for the least of these, this mystery girl would have had caregivers who protect her from rapists.

Yea, But as usual, these people’s hearts are as solid as rocks when it comes to this. I bet if they were shown a picture of a baby seal being killed, they would feel more empathy for it that for an aborted child… Sigh, It’s just so sad…

They need to first be educated themselves on the natural biological progression of human reproduction before they can argue intelligently. Human beings undergo a process of gestation which naturally ends in birth. Force is used to interrupt that natural process, such as forcing the 12 year old girl to kill her child, or killing her child by force. To say that natural gestation is something that is forced is no different than saying that breathing is forced.
For the second point, they use a 12 year old retarded girl as an example claiming she is too immature to go through ‘trauma’ bearing a child yet she has the mental capacity to decide she “didn’t want” the child “knowing that the child was a product of the rape”. Obviously there are different degrees of retardation. They are introducing the concept of a retarded girl for purpose of illustration, one would have to assume it is of such a degree that she is unable to decide that she “didn’t want” the child. Otherwise what is the point of using a retarded child as an example.

And they can easily be directed to any good biology textbook and see that what is fact and what they believe are at odds with each other. In fact, no credible scientist any longer argues that a fetus is not a complete and separate human being just in exactly the same way as with any other mammal. People in the pro-abortion industry who still use this argument immediately destroy their own credibility and reduce themselves to emotion based illogical arguments.

They also assume that no help,emotonal, spirtual or medical, will be available to the child, and that a pregnancy at such a young age is always life threatening.

And here can be pointed out that such fantasy situations are not reality. Real life is so much more colorful.

And that they assume that she will have to face her dilemma on her own.

Yet somehow she is not so alone that someone cannot subject her to brutal torture through the death of her unborn child.
