I need help finding a Catholic missionary organization to donate money to

When I was a Protestant, I donated my money to Gospel for Asia, which is a non-denominational missionary organization that works primarily in India by local Indian Christians. They are traditional in their way of evangelizing: they travel from city to city preaching with Jesus movies, Gospel tracts, and going door-to-door.

Now that I’m entering into the Church (I’m still not officially a Catholic yet), I want to support a Catholic mission. I want it to be like Gospel for Asia though, with missionaries going to foreign lands and preaching to people, passing out tracts, etc.

But I don’t know of any Catholic missionaries to donate my money to! I’m quite wealthy, and my money’s just piling up in my bank account. So please, tell me of some missions that actually go to foreign lands and preach to the unreached.

I’d suggest you donate to Mother Teresa’s order, the Missionaries of Charity. Be assured they win just as many souls for Christ with their care for the poor and loving good works than any amount of preaching and passing out tracts (at least to people who are poor, sick and starving) could hope to achieve.

Did Jesus say we would be judged on how well we preached with words or writings? Or instead did He tell us that the sheep would be separated from the goats by how they fed the hungry, clothed the naked, tended the sick and so on?

CFCA is a very good organization to donate money to, especially if you would like to sponsor a child or an adult. It costs $30 a month, and all of that money goes to the child and family. You can also pick a child that you would like to sponsor. I sponsor two girls, one in India and the other in Columbia. Both receive supplies for school and help for their families.

Another good one is Cross International (I think you can find this one also on the internet)-- they support missions from all over and the money you donate goes directly to this work. I donate $20 each month for this purpose.

Why not Google some on line Catholic Orphanages in South America. Locate them then take a trip to make sure they are legitimate and then become a sponsor. You can impact a lot of lives.

Maryknoll missionaries serve in Asia, Africa and Latin America. One of their priests presented a bit of their work at our parish, twice. He spoke at the time about the work they were doing in Asia the first time. The second time he spoke about the work they were doing in very rural and isolated areas of northern Africa. They are in places where there are absolutely no Christians, doing work of charity. Many of the places they are do not allow them to preach or pass out religious material. Yet, their message is heard and small Christian communities form, simply by the work they do.
