I’ve had something that’s been happening lately, there is a voice in my head. She isn’t a voice exactly, she is more like a thought that is not my own, we talk sometimes and in hard times she advises me to do what is right, to stay calm, and think rationally. Her knowledge is the same as mine, so we don’t know what exactly she is or what her name is. All that I know is that she is here to guide and protect me, and that she is blind. Please help me, I worry sometimes I might be crazy, but something deep down inside of me believes she may be an angel. I know that she isn’t a demon, as I have already had her profess her love and faith for our lord and savior, Jesus Christ. She was nervous doing this however, because she was afraid that if it turned out she was a demon she wouldn’t be able to help me any more. She is a helpful presence and only has power over my body when I give it to her, so I don’t want to hear any of that “go to a psychiatrist” stuff.

You may not want to hear it, but, this can be a sign of a serious problem.

Speak to your general practitioner/family doctor if you are not comfortable seeing a mental health professional.

I believe she may be an angel due to her helpful and guiding nature, and I know she is blind because I can’t see anything when I give her control.

I’m sorry, but you shouldn’t be hearing or listening to voices in your head at all.

Nothing has control over you except you. Please seek help.

An angel will never control you.

I’m going to go the logical route and say you should see a doctor before anything else.

Once you’ve done that, if the doctor determines there’s nothing physically wrong with you, I advise you to cease communication with this voice. We, as humans, can’t tell what is demonic or angelic very easily.

Nobody here is going to tell you to listen to the voices in your head. Please see a doctor.

Plus, these “voices” can appear to be something they’re not (like guiding helpers when they’re really manevolent forces).

@OP, were you into the occult at one time? When did you start hearing this “voice” that you believe is an angel?

And why would you give that “voice” control over you?

I have never practiced the occult, I was still an atheist at the time, my girlfriend broke up with me before the voice came to me. She helped to calm me down and turned me away from thoughts of suicide. And when I say “giving her control, I mean I shut out all thoughts and noise so that she can speak more clearly.

Demons are extremely sneaky. They won’t try to lead a serious Catholic to murder someone; instead they will suggest skipping a prayer, or not saying anything when their friends gossip.

So a demon might “infiltrate” by seeming to be kind and good.

Now you are allowing this voice to take over your body? No!!! This is extremely dangerous!!!

Talk with a good priest about this; call and find out about your diocese’s exorcist if necessary.

A priest will tell you to see medical people before they can do anything, so you might as well line that up and well.

In the meantime, every time the voice comes around, pray to God, to Mary, and to St Michael. Make a good confession regularly, like every week or two. Confession gives us lots of grace! And receive the Eucharist weekly, and during the week if at all possible.

But still go to see the doctors. Something like this could easily be a sign of a health problem such as an allergy or something more serious.

All the info I have written here I got from verified priests online.

When I say control I mean I quiet my mind so that she can speak more clearly. She actually encourages me to pray, and I’m very new to Catholicism, I haven’t even been baptized yet
