Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, in particular (Maggie and her husband), and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. Dear pollylodges, when my mom was in a nursing home, we needed Medicaid to pay for it. It was a pain to go through the government hoops, but we did get it. Yes, you’ll have to prove that you are almost destitute. They will also want you to affirm every six months that you are as broke now as you were then. (At least, this was the process in NJ.) Also, does the hospital have an “inability to pay” option for its patients? If they do, you could be covered until you do get the Medicaid. Just a thought…

O Faithful Virgin and glorious martyr, St. Philomena, who works so many miracles on behalf of the poor and sorrowing, have pity on pollylodges. Thou knowest the multitude and diversity of his needs.
