I need help

Hi I have a problem with masturbation, I see some threads with them already and read them. I don’t know what to say when I go to confession. Should I say I have masturbating problems or use a different word? I am trying to stop. Also, I went to confession but i couldn’t say I masturbated, I am trying to stop and its going ok I guess however something tells me when I do its wrong,like doesnt feel as “good” not trying to be nasty, could it be God trying to help me or punish me for not saying it? I want to stop and I think I will start praying for help and guidance.I use to do it a lot of times during the day now I limited to like 3 times a weak and I want to quit. I have also watched some porn, first at a friend’s house who i don’t hang around anymore. How should I approach that to the priest.? I am around 14 if that somehow helps.

Just say," I committed acts of impurity with myself." The priest will know what you are talking about. I commend you, especially at your age, for wanting to rid yourself of this habit. Many boys and men struggle with this and the priest has heard it zillions of times. You will not shock him. In fact, for most young men it would be suspect if you did not confess this sin. I’m not being judgmental or saying that all males commit this sin. I am just saying that the vast majority of us either struggle or have struggled with this sometime in our lives. Ok so How will this work I walk in kneel and say
“father bless me for I have sinned?”
then he asks for my sins and I say I have comminted acts of impurity of myself and make me say a prayer and he does a prayer and thats it?

I would recommend actually using the word masturbate. It is a good builder of humility. But TeachCCD’s way is also very good. The important thing is to get it out, and receive God’s grace.

The scene you laid out there is right, though you need to confess all your sins too.

My school i go to is…very “sexual” like they do stuff such as sex and stuff related to sex, I use to be a part of this…when I was a bit younger I use to fool around with girls, and we touch each other…with clothes on I guess you could say it was a curiosity that i am now ashamed of, How would I word that?But serisouly…every social group in my school is very…“unique” I am learning how to say “no” to society which I am proud of .
and I do screen, is there a “benefit” from face to face confession?

It’s hard to say whether there is a real benefit to going face-to-face. Some people feel that the extra shame of having to look at the priest you are confessing to is a good thing, but it is also even the priest’s right to request confession with a screen.

Basically, this tells me that the Church says there is no difference. Certainly the same absolution and sacramental and actual graces are received.

I would pray about what exactly to call your sins. Scroll up again to TeachCCD’s post, and you can say you behaved impurely with a girl.
