I’m sorry if this isn’t the place to do ask, but I need help finding sources for a research essay part of which is supposed to deal with how the Catholic Church has benefited society. It’s late and I’m desperate… I know I won’t get any responses in time for tomorrow, but this is mostly for sources I could add later maybe. Again I’m sorry if this isn’t an appropriate place to as for this.

You may not be able to get this book in time, but a great book on exactly what you need is How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization, by Thomas Woods. It’s an extensive study of history and where the Church (through monks, scientists, and others) made key institutions (such as universities) that now thrive today.

It may be available as a downloadable audiobook or eBook to get you what you need right away. Try looking on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Borders websites.

You might also find that a Google search gives you leads. Try phrases like “how catholic church benefits the world” and you will find information on the modern concepts of hospitals, schools, charitable organizations and more that have come from the Church. I would go as far back as you can and find historical evidence to help. This Wikipedia article (which I’d be careful not to use as a source in and of itself) documents correctly that the Catholic Church founded the first university. Good luck!
