I need reassurance

She’ll occasionally play Barbies or even Bratz with her friends IF they are playing, but on her own – nope, nothing doing. 🤷

I am glad I finally got a doll lover in my youngest DD but boy that sure was rough to have a little girl (who LOVED pink and all things girlie otherwise) who wanted nothing to do with dolls!

The thought has occured to me occasionally. I just choose not to dwell on it because, like you said, it would be rough!

:rotfl: We’ll see. I’m still a dollar and 45 cents short so I might be able to say on saturday,lol (That is, if Walmart actually still has one. Boys sell out fast). The wait gives me time to figure out just what to name him. I’m debating between Marcus John and Lucas Matthew. I like Marcus over Lucas and there are three well known saint Johns whose feast days are this month. However the beginning of the gospels of Luke and Matthew are exactly what this month is all about so I’m all up for votes;) .

actually, I can’t talk about the dolls, but I remember when I was 17 I was OBSESSED with babies. I wonder if it’s just a hormone thing LOL
 
My cousin is 62 and has 327 dolls. The finished attic of her home is kind of a doll museum. Dolls can be what amounts to a fine art form, if you haven’t noticed.

Of course, I will probably end up with 8 boys and no girls. Just watch.

The BEST Christmas we ever had was when my DD was 9 and just got “Kirsten” – American Girl doll. All the cool stuff in the catalogs was SOO expensive and DH and I are kind of handy, so we made scads of things for her: A hand-painted Alpine-style bed and chest with rosemaling. Quilt, pillow, embroidered bed sheets. St. Lucy crown & white dress. Bonnet, Cape . . . on and on. What FUN we had. Spent about $75 on everything and the stuff is still going strong having been passed along to the daughters of friends.

I think the only odd thing is picking a “baby” that is designed to pee on you.

I loved my american girl doll! I still have her. it’s one of the things I DID keep when I threw out all my other dolls. I got the Josefina one and I absoutely adored her because she was so much like me. She was dark haired, dark eyed, Catholic and born on March 19th, which is the day after my birthday, and she wanted to be a doctor (healer). It was so cool to me. I started taking Spanish just so I could understand the spanish words in her books. I regret not picking up a copy of one of her books in Spanish.
 
I have Josefina too! And I also want to be a doctor (one semester closer to med school! lol), have dark hair and eyes, and March 19th is a day for me because I celebrate St. Joseph’s Day (Italian American, hehe). I never thought of that! lol

Yeah, I want a lot of kids too. Lol, I want to be a missionary doctor with at least four children. My favorite names are Maria, Giuseppe, Dominic, Fatima (her middle name would be Rose, so she’d pretty much be after Our Lady of the Rosary), Gianna, Francis, and Sebastian. I also like the name Bella Mia, because it means “my beautiful” in Italian.

Lol, your welcome:) . My mom had a dream two years ago when I was taking my earth science regents that I would become a missionary doctor as well. I would love to do that, but so far it isn’t my calling. I plan to become a pediatricion and my hometown will be in need of doctors in a few years anyway, as the majority of our doctors are close to retirement. We have four GPs, and all own husband-wife pratices. Hopefully I’ll marry a GP and we’ll go into private pratice together. My dreams invole three things, running a prolife pratice, having a house full of kids, and inventing an artifical womb*. The artifical womb idea is something I’d like to explore if I continue my education and become a neonatologist, but for right now I don’t want to consitor that until I have kids and they get older. If i’m going to working in my small town, I wouldn’t need the specialization anyway, the generalization would be enough, but the idea is intriging.

*(my artifical womb would apply to severally premature infants (around 20 weeks), a specialized incubator basically, not like a test tube thing where the baby is grown without ever being inside the mother.)
 
Yeah, my mom’s the same way! She’s seen me joining the Peace Corps after college (I am considering it, but I’ve got awhile, lol) since I was five and told her I was going to Mexico and Kenya (the latter because I saw Lion King!) A friend of mine told my mother that she was going to lose me to another country and my mother said, “I’ve known that forever.” Lol, it’s an inside joke that I’m going to marry someone I meet randomly on my travels (after we’ve gotten to know each other, etc.) and live in the Third World raising our six kids and healing people while teaching them about Jesus:)
 
Man! If you young people are dreaming dreams like this, and it is linked with liking dolls, then how can you be embarrassed by this little affection of yours.

You can make it “respectable” by becoming afficionados of the ‘important’ doll artitsts. There are magazines devoted to the whole art and craft of doll making: the porcelain, hand-made, hand painted, high ticket kind. These people really ARE artists.

Ahhhh. Teddy bears! 'Nother thing altogether. DH and I keep our threadbare childhood teddy bears side by side on a chair in the corner of our bedroom.
