over my dead body will my daughter ever work in a restaurant or bar, but for me to judge a young girl who was once like me; to me it just seems…well…hypocritical…
why over your dead body? if your job was so morally neutral, or if your rerasaons for having it were so good, why over your dead body? perhaps someday your daughter will have the same reasons and will argue for the same moral neutrality.

and… judge? the OP asked if bartending was an OK job. you’ll not find a single word from me about your clothing, or the club you worked in, or your choices, serap. only a clear disagreement with your assertion that any bar job is an OK bar job if the employee can come up with good enough reasons (excuses, perhaps) to need the job.

in fact, serap, discernment is a gift from God Himself. it is the ability to know the difference between the spirit of holiness in a thing, or the spirit of evil. please re-acquaint yourself with the difference between discernment and judgment. please reacquaint yourself with the difference between speaking Truth in love and offering misguided compassion.

finally, my answer is NOT confirned the the possibility of women working in bars. my answer goes for men, too.

if it’s a bad bar, it’s a bad job.

I am agreeing with you; please don’t get me wrong. I am just saying that I would not see the girl as being immoral b/c I’ve been there myself. I went to school during the big recession in the early 90’s…there weren’t many options at that time; and I picked one that wasn’t good for my spirit, but it got me the life that I wanted. That’s all I’m saying…that is my perspective.

Yes, I think a nice girl does not belong in that type of job…not because she’s immoral, but b/c of the immorality that would be surrounding her and the behaviour that she would be exposed to. I would be afraid that she would become desensitized to it all.

I am able now to financially support my children as long as they need my help. I will do it and shelter my daughter from the hardships that I had…bartending in a high scale nightclub (it was a supper/night club with an older crowd); but men still made their moves on me and many of them were married. They felt that b/c I was bartending; I was dating/cheating material when I wasn’t. It isn’t whether or not the person is working in a sleazy nightclub; it’s about the perceptions that others will formulate about him/her also. It’s a shame especially when someone is doing it to better themselves in the future.

Serap, Hello again. I am out of this topic because I am getting ready to go on a vacation and don’t have time to discuss this topic anymore.

Talk to you later on another topic when I get back… PEACE, La Lucia
