I came to the Catholic faith from a Protestant background only a couple years ago. It was a radical change in my life and way of thinking about the faith, everything is different. This conversion was huge to me and my family and I have a huge passion to teach others about the faith and correct misconceptions because that’s what lead me home. Without the willingness to be open to it, I’d still be ignorant of all this faith has to offer, it’s truly beautiful.

With that said, this passion keeps manifesting in conversations with a Protestant in real life and we both go hours debating back and forth. He on Sola Scriptura beliefs and me on Apostolic succession, etc. Sometimes I try to stop us both but t keeps going and it’s near impossible not to defend myself and my faith, as well as try to offer the truth even if they won’t listen. I always end up frustrated and mad, and feel it’s truly futile to try.

Are there any books or something I can learn how to deal with this situation and the anger? I want to be charitable and loving but when I talk it’s with conviction of the truth and frustration at the misconceptions.

Catholicism And Fundamentalism, by Karl Keating. It covers almost all the subjects that come up. There are several others but I have gone blank on the titles right now.
