Hello everyone,

Lately I’ve been feeling very helpless. I am a high-schooler who goes to a Catholic school but has nobody to confide in about my spiritual life. I want my life to mirror that of the Saints, but I feel that I need someone to help me to go down that path. There really are no spiritual directors in my area, and so there would be nobody for me to speak to in person that I know of. If anyone knows someone they can put me in touch with, please speak up. I would be most grateful just to have someone to email. After all, St. Gemma Galgani (a Saint who I wish to be a very large role model in my life) wrote many letters to communicate with her spiritual director.

Be warned, I would probably bother whoever would be willing to listen with questions and constant requests for advice and guidance. I would forever be grateful to anyone who is willing to give me some answers rooted in the teachings of the Church.

Thank you in advance to anyone who responds, and may God bless all who read what I have written!

How do you lnow that no one is available? Have you asked at your school or parish about a spiritual companion/director?

Your priest or someone in your parish who works with young people

I am an educator so don’t mind taking to you via dm from that side of things but also please do see a priest regularly

@CilladeRoma, I suppose that the only way I know this is that I’ve gone through my parish website and found nothing. I haven’t been looking that hard enough then, have I? I do know somebody who may be able to help me. Perhaps I could also ask my priest about things, like you suggested, @halogirl. Please, pray that I may be able to find someone to speak to. I am still open to speaking to anyone who would be willing! I am bottling up more and more each and every day. If I don’t have somebody to ask some of the burning questions that come up in my personal life, I feel like I may break down.

Thank you!

The Church teaches that the primary educators of their children are the parents. This is why it is best that you discuss things with them. But perhaps there is a good reason that you do not want to discuss these problems with them. In that case, speaking with someone who has some training is best, especially if you can talk with them face to face, because they will know the right questions to ask you and be able to see how you are presenting yourself and reacting to what they say.

Some of the questions you have may be answerable by posting them on the forum. This is good because then you will get a variety of replies. While some of your questions may best be answered one on one, online it is not a good idea to do too much of that with someone you don’t ever see in real life. A sort of bubble can grow around the two people who are doing that, and you want to avoid that, especially as you are young and may not see the signs.

All that being said, if you have some burning questions, I am a mother of 4 grown children and will do my best to help you out, which may sometimes involve directing to something to read, or suggesting posting on a public forum 😉 you can take a look at some of my other posts here to see if you think I might be able to answer some of your questions, feel free to PM me.
