Help me to love myself, sometimes i feel chubby compared to my brother, whom is muscular, it makes me feel self concious, please help me to love myself, its really hard for me to do so sometimes especially when i feel like i have trouble getting up, i am not fat by the way but i am a flabby-above-skinny type of person. but not chubby. help me to love myself… i don’t want to starve myself again…

God loves you just as you are. Remember that we are jars of clay and that our brokenness brings greater Glory to Him, His light shines through it. Nobody’s perfect according to Hollywood standards, even the Hollywood stars themselves, it’s all film tricks and magazine ads and covers are the same. God made you perfect in His sight, for his own special purposes for you so, seek out His purpose in you and you won’t worry so much.

Praying for you. 🙂

You need to pray for the grace to see yourself in the way God sees you. It is hard to focus on God, instead of your own perceived flaws, since our own introspective thoughts are immediate to us, while God’s love is so abstract.

Before I converted, I was often insecure, because I thought I had lived below everyone’s expectations, as I failed to be admitted to an Ivy League school to be on track for a prestigious career.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon Ilovejesus1234 in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
    Amen.

Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women, and Blessed is the
fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our deaths.

Pray for us O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made
worthy of the promises of Christ.

Amen.

Counseling would also be good for this and probably a support group of some kind.

Individual and group counseling would be some other options to consider. Group counseling would also be good so that you realize you’re not alone in this, and/or a kind of support group for folks with eating disorders.

There is a prayer called the miracle prayer that a priest wrote. Look it up on the internet and say it every day sincerely. The prayer just so happens to begin with the words, I come before you just as I am. Brenda

Sometimes, we can experience things in our past which can impact on our self esteem, if we internalize them.

I’ve been told that in the same way we can learn things, we can unlearn them, but it takes some work, probably will not happen on its own.

You would need to work on the issues which caused this, and anything that would help your self esteem.

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to their assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, we consecrate ourselves to Your divine Heart, with all that we are and have. We give You our thoughts, words, actions, our joys and sufferings of each day. We renew our promise to live as good Christians ever mindful of Your merciful love. Heart of Jesus, we take You as our security in whatever anxieties may assail us. Be our source of comfort and encouragement in every trial. Rule over us as King and Center of our hearts now and forever. Amen.

Bless you, Friend. I’ll hold you in prayer. This is something I’ve struggled with for years.

Hopefully it’s okay if I share a recent talk our parish priest posted to the parish’s website. I’ve returned to it numerous times, as the message really helps me when I’m struggling with loving myself. I hope it speaks to you as well.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

**We turn to you for protection,
holy Mother of God.

Listen to our prayers
and help us in our needs.

Save us from every danger,
glorious and blessed Virgin.

Amen.**

We think of Jesus as incredibly handsome, but what if His awesome beauty, perceived by others, was His loving, generous, pure spirit shining from His eyes, His words, His actions?
Do you know why I would put this question for our considerateness?

You know that the prophet Isaiah foretold the coming of the Redeemer. His words included these. He went on to say what our beloved Savior did with His life on earth…His unselfish love of others, the consequences of that love.

Isaiah 53

“Who has believed what we have heard?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
For he grew up before him like a young plant,
and like a root out of dry ground;
he had no form or majesty that we should look at him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by others;
a man of suffering and acquainted with infirmity;
and as one from whom others hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him of no account.”

Isaiah appears to be saying that Jesus’ appearance wouldn’t be spectacular, but His goodness and love would be, was, and is extraordinarily beautiful, far-reaching, eternal.

Be one with the Lord in His loving goodness.

Lord in our humanity we suffer when we compare ourselves to others who seem to be more appealing, more good-looking, more successful, and the times we live in make this more difficult. Please help us to seek the eternal beauty of lining in love of You and in love of others as self.

Help this dear person to find beauty in goodness and love, in positive and friendly attitudes in thought and behavior, Help us all to live thus and to know ourselves as unique, loved persons, beautiful in Your sight.
