You are correct that I am sitting in the “rubble.” But on my best or worst day I would never pass judgment over you or anyone else. I wouldn’t dare try.
I wonder if you are angry at the Catholic Church, or just angry. But take this from an admitted sinner: sometimes you just need to sit quietly and listen to the whisper of God amidst all the noise.
One thing about bottoming out, it gives you a new and unique perspective.
When I got back from Iraq and had health problems I felt the same way - but nothing changed in the way I lived my life. I talked about God but nothing changed. Eventually I had to go through some REAL suffering and then I was willing to bend to HIS will and everything changed. Things do get better. Have faith. Know that you will have friends here and that the difficulties you go through now will help others later.

Thank you. By the way, I love the Keys and have attended a parish church in Key Largo (or Tavernier) that I loved while on one of my many vacations down that way.

I haven’t been to mass that far up North but I attend mass on Big Pine Key and the Franciscan Fraternity that I am discerning is in Key West.

Well, you’re double fortunate to potentially be called to such a vocation in such a beautiful part of the world. Good luck and thanks for the good advice.

Anytime - but it is not me - I try to let the Holy Spirit do the typing otherwise I make no sense.

I have not passed judgment on you nor anyone else, nor am I angry at the Catholic Church nor anyone else.
The problem of over-control/out of control and the phenomenon of people abandoning their best intentions and seriously undertaken vows to engage in addictive behavior is a huge problem in the current age.
It’s a problem with deep roots in lack of relationship skills, and focusing on relationship skills can help repair the damage and clean up the rubble.
That is all I am saying.
