I’m sorry. I tried to start a new thread… I am a computer illiterate and I honestly don’t know how post my news sources. Could someone give me a quick course as to how to report a link. I apologize for my ignorance. Moderator, please don’t cut me off until someone can help me.

I’m sorry. I tried to start a new thread… I am a computer illiterate and I honestly don’t know how post my news sources. Could someone give me a quick course as to how to report a link. I apologize for my ignorance. Moderator, please don’t cut me off until someone can help me.
Once you have found your news story, highlight the url in the address bar ( e.g. newsstory.com/yadayadayada/index.html ); click on copy (by either right clicking on the highlight or going to “Edit”)

Now, go to the Forum site (keep the other window open) and start a new thread. Paste the url in the message area.

Forum rules require the Title to match the article’s title, so do a copy and paste on the article’s heading.

Next, if you want to quote from the article, click on the quote balloon on the far right above the message area. Copy the text and paste it inside the “QUOTE /QUOTE”. You can only include 3 paragraphs max per forum rules.

Next, add any comments you wish…within guidelines 🙂

Hope that helps,

Robert

Thank you for your help. I’m am very grateful. Now let’s see if I can actually do it. God bless you.

Here are more detailed instructions:

Window
Look at the bottom of your monitor screen. You will see a little green rectangle with the words “Catholic Answers Forum” on it. Click on that rectangle. That will minimize the window so that you see your desktop only. Click on the rectangle again. That will maximize the window so that you can see what I am writing again. Now you know what a window is.

Second window
You will need a second window. At the top left of your screen you will see “File.” Click on that. That will give you a pull-down menu. Pull your mouse down to “New.” That will give you the option of “Window.” Click on “Window.” That will give you a second rectangle at the bottom of your screen.

Finding a news source
Click on the right hand rectangle at the bottom of your screen to get the second window. Go to Google. Enter “CTV” in the Google search window. Click “Google Search.” Choose CTV.ca by clicking on that link. A link is underlined and makes your mouse turn into a hand when you scroll over it.

Scroll down to Canada. Click on “Black group calls for action on gun violence .” That will bring up the webpage for that article.

Writing the news source on your Catholic Answers reply window
Click on the left hand rectangle at the bottom of your screen. That brings up your Catholic Answers window. Click on “Reply.” That will give you an empty Reply window.

Click on the right hand rectangle at the bottom of your screen. That brings up your newspage. At the top of your screen you will see a blue e with a web address inside it. That is the web address of your newspage.

Click on that link. That should hilight it. Highlighting it selects it. Now, holding down the CTRL key at the bottom left of your keypad punch C. That copies what is selected to the notepad.

Now Click on the left hand rectangle at the bottom of your screen. That brings up your Catholic Answers Reply window. Click your mouse in the window. Holding down the CTRL key at the bottom left of your keypad, punch V. That pastes what is selected to the window. You may have to wait a while for the selection to paste itself.

That is it!

Now here are some options:

Instead of CTRL C or CTRL V you can go to Edit at the top left of your screen. Click on “Edit.” Click on “Copy” or “Paste.”

You can also copy portions of the text of your news story. Instead of copying the web address, just click and drag your mouse over the part of the text you want to copy. That hilights the selected text. Then copy and paste as usual.

To clarify that the selected text is quoted material go the ikon which looks like this at the top right of your Reply window.

Click it. That will give you two QUOTE tags. Paste your selected text between the two tags.
