I need your prayers.

Dear friend,

There is a lot of things going on in my life and I need your prayers. First off, I have a physical disease that causes me a lot of pain. It is very hard to live with and it makes living very difficult sometimes. I also have an addiction that I really need to let go of. To be honest, I am addicted to pornography and it’s slowly attached itself into my life during the past 10 years. Please pray that I can let go of this. And finally, I have been on disability due to my physical disease for the past 3 and a half years. I’m sick of having no money and I’m tired of not enjoying the good things in life. So, to overcome this situation, I plan on looking for a part time job while I’m finishing my degree. Please say a prayer that I can find a job that I can handle. I’m so afraid of going back to work; what if I can’t do it? Only time will tell.

In summary, please pray that my life becomes positive and fullfilling and above all: PURE.

Dear Lord, I beg You, please look with love and compassion on Your servant, Nathan, who is crying out to You from the depths. Bless him, Lord, with the right job that will fulfill his needs, and deepen his relationship with You so that he no longer desires the evils of the flesh. In Jesus name we pray.

Praying for you…here’s some similar advice I gave to another poster that might help you as well…Feel free to PM me any time, I might be able to explain a little about this material for you if you want or we can discuss…

Please pray, go to Confession, and the Eucharist. There are many good resources available to help you in this struggle. Two that I can think of right now are, Every man’s Battle by Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker. Will give you much information on overcoming this struggle and weapons to stay pure. And another good author is Mark Kastleman who has books and internet sites that describe how porn is today’s new (toxic) drug and how it effects the brain as well as other areas of your life… I will pray for you…

Nathan, you’re in my prayers.

One thing I might add that you do, and do quite often, is meditate on Christ’s passion, from the Agony in the Garden all the way to the Crucifiction. Put yourself there, and imagine Christ dying for you in your sin. Then think of your addiction and put it in front of Christ. You will be embarrassed, to be sure. But that is good, and it’s a first step. When you start to become embarrassed by your actions, the embarrassment will eventually grow into distaste and then disgust at yourself for even thinking about it.

Take it from one who knows about these sort of things! Although I was not a porn addict, I was addicted to a particular type of mortal sin. With prayer and reflection, I’m about 99.9% over it, although I don’t think I’ll ever be 100%.

But that fight is part of the good fight, and is well worth it. And to be sure, I’m on the winning side.

You will get to that point, with our prayers, your prayer and your own part in this fight. And you will see the Glory of God the Most High!

Prayers on the way. You are not alone in this world when you have the company of the communion of saints on your side and the body of Christ. Stay close to the church and you will be comforted.
