I didn’t get this one done completely and got off to do other things… This was a quote from Nelson Mandela about his philosophy on how to deal with tyrants.
The tryrant can either intimidate us or let us be, but can’t do both. If our fear incapacitates us to the degree we don’t do anything the tyrant wins. If we do something in response to a tyrant which in the cases of passive resistance is simply taking ownership of our minds and actions then the tyrant cannot let us be, he will have to take action. In which case our response is “I never told you I was immortal” which is to say I am not afraid of what you, the tyrant, can do to me.
Apologies for the poor post… I want to add some more even, David Mamet wrote this article in 2005 (movies include: Glen Gary Glenn Ross, The Spanish Prisoner, Spartan, Red Belt, the Heist) about how Ju Jitsu, the theme of “Red Belt”, is seen in passive resistance.
The real reason for posting this is to share with fellow Christians that as we approach our persecution here in the next 50 years how are we to respond: “I never told you I was immortal”.
Thanks!
