Maybe. It might be that you are missing the pageantry only. It could be that you are missing the fullness of faith that is found only in the Catholic Church.I see, so maybe my love of the rituels is because God is trying to get me back so that I can see the meaning behind them?
I’ve visited other Christian churches and missed the “rituals” of the Catholic Mass. I didn’t realize it at the time–I tought I merely missed the routine of genuflecting, kneeling, etc. What I really missed, without realizing it, was the substance behind the ritual.
I think someone who hasn’t ever been Catholic might not understand the “pull” of the fullness of faith–You don’t always miss what you never had. And yet many non-Catholics are drawn to the faith–not because they want to genuflect and kneel and smell the incense. They sense,somehow, that something is missing in their faith life.
How much more is that sense of something missing if you once were a devout Catholic.
Why do you doubt that Christ is God’s son?
