I QUIT! (my job)

Congrats! Sometimes any job, any contract even, is better than a lousy employer. Sometimes even the free time is better. Your boss has a problem. I mean, your former boss, thankfully. Don’t you have labour courts for mobbing suits? What she did was criminal unless there’s an evil 19th century capitalizt law system in place.

Hah, being in a lousy one myself. What they’re paying me is a joke. I’m an A-grade Master with a PhD course underway and I get… you don’t even want to know. It’s just the same what my PhD course would cost me a month if it weren’t for holidays. They’re promising me a double in March, but that’s still lousy and a friendly senior worker who went to the same school I did (just earlier than I) said I shouldn’t believe them anyway. Lawyers…

Best of luck in whatever you do now. Maybe it’s time to open your own business and be your own employer? Or freelance anything?
 
You did a courageous thing. I hope you heal from the effects quickly and find rewarding work soon.
 
yess, i did the same thing recently. while i loved my coworkers and my supervisor, my ‘boss’ was a piece of work. the assistant manager was cool, and did most of the work, but the fat lazy slob of a ‘boss’ was always rude and condesending towards the employees… his you know what didn’t stink apparently.

now i’m making a little bit more money, getting more actual experience in my field (meat cutter) and will move to another company in about six months when i have more experience under my belt where i’ll be making a liveable wage to put myself through school and live off of. i dont want a huge student loan to pay off and i know many people working where im at going to the school im going to working there to pay it off as they go. 👍 plus where i’m working now i actually get human hours… 6-2:30 2 days a week; 8-4:30 3 days a week and sunday monday off.
 
Wow! Your former boss does have some REAL personal issues. All I can say is to pray for her.

Maybe you and that other former employee can get together and go out looking for a job elsewhere. Maybe you can use that other lady as a referral. I mean, she worked there for 17 years. She can use you, too.

It would be nice for everyone that works under her to quit all at the same time or go on a strike. Maybe that might wake her up, too, aside from the prayers. 😃
 
I am proud of you for having the courage to stand up for yourself. I will pray you find a new, and much better job, very soon! You deserve better, and you deserve respect. I am very proud of you! And way to be a great examples for others!!

I am confident you will find a new job soon. I know it is scary, but you did the right thing, and the best thing, for yourself and for your family! Toxic jobs affect the whole family!

So, my ex-boss’s husband called me, but I didn’t pick up the phone since I was talking to my sister on the other line. He called to tell me he was sending me my paycheck and to tell me my 1099 forms will arrive in about 10 days.

Beause they love to do things on email, and for my records, this is what I sent to them:
Hi R,

I was on the phone when you called. I rather do this by email so I have a record of things. My address is correct as you have it: xxx xxx st xxx CA, xxxxx. I had been meaning to send you my time sheet but I don’t have a fax or a scanner, so I was going to go to my mom’s or to Kinko’s to fax it to you. I worked M: 10:30-5, T: 9-5, W: 8:30-4:30, Th: 9:30-4:15, F: 9:15-11.

I’m really sorry things got to be the way the are. I really enjoyed working for you, but the way J had been treating me lately was unacceptable. She wasn’t treating me like a human being and with the way she yelled at me since C left last year, I couldn’t take it any more. 3 wks ago she started yelling at me in front of agents and **N **at the office, and I told her that if she treated me that way again, I would be leaving. Friday she began yelling and screaming on the phone just because I told her the newspaper had sent a certain email to N too, and I just couldn’t take any more of that verbal abuse. She has to remember I have been through a lot lately, and that is no way to treat any person at all, no matter how rich or poor they are.

I am really sorry I had to leave, especially because of the financial burden this is to DH and me. We’re probably going to lose our house, but I rather have my dignity and sanity than be treated that way. I thank you for always being so nice to me. You are a great employer. It was a great experience working for your wife aside from the way she treated C and me. I learned many things, and one of them was to stick up for myself, even though it took me long to do it.

In fact, my sister and I were on the phone yesterday, and she told me that I sound so happy now that I quit that place. She said that job was killing me and it took away the best of me. So yes, I am happy, but worried about the money 🤷

I liked your letter, and in some way, it gives you personally, a little closure. I will keep you in my prayers, yessian. God will provide, and I specifically pray that He points you in a good direction for a future career. God bless.

Thank you for the prayers WG. And I know God will provide, He always does! 😃 The only time I felt abandoned was when I lost the baby, but a few days later I realized that if it wasn’t for Him, I wouldn’t have made it… Isn’t God amazing?

Yes–He is amazing. 🙂 I am glad that you left your job–there is no job/career ever worth wreaking havoc in our personal lives, and causing health issues over. You could change your name to Norma Rae on here!😃 😉
 
Yessi – are you REALLY in danger of losing your house over this?

Even if you are, I think you did what had to be done. But that would be an atrocious price to pay.

Yes, we are in danger of losing it. 😦 W/o my income we don’t make enough for the mortgage and the bills.

That’s the only reason why I think it was a bad idea to quit, but the way I was being treated wasn’t worth my health. I have until 2/1 to get a job so we can make it thru next month w/o having the bank put a flag on our house of “in danger of foreclosure”, and if we can’t make the payment, we’ll have 6 months to either leave or get caught up. Still no missed payments, but the banks are too scared right now with how the housing market is doing.

We should’ve stayed in the apt…
 
I used to say to my boss “notice?, you’ll notice I won’t be here tomorrow”😃 . Needless to say they gave me no notice when they fired me. Prayers for you Yessisan, the Lord will provide.
 
yessian–do you think they will give you a good reference? That was my only* teeny weeny *concern when you left without notice.:o I know how places can be–which is why I ask. Maybe you trust your boss’ husband–he might give you a good reference?
 
I don’t know about them, but my ex-boss’s partner will. She really likes me and she hates my ex-boss too. I don’t have a problem with references. I have many. Thanks for your concern WG.

Okay - you have until the beginning of Feb to have a paycheck in hand?

What can you do now to get the cash in hand. Sell something? How about getting paid to baby sit or clean houses? Something that will get you the money you need to get through the next 4 weeks.

Have you contacted temp agencies?

oh, that’s a good idea. temp agencies are really great–we just hired on someone from a temp agency last week, and she swears by them!:yup:
