On His head twirling. And on His backside with legs and arms over His legs tucked around His legs rotating. I thought it very disrespectful of people painting Christ doing a dance that is meant for us to be entertained.

If you think it’s wrong, please give me a good reason why or words to comment about this. Sorry to say, I am in a debate. Not a screaming or yelling one. Civilized debate.

Thank you and love y’all, Sheila

I prayed for all here going through horrible suffering and all I hug all of you with my heart. ❤️

It’s inappropriate and disrespectful… Nothing much else to say.

I wonder if they would be as disrespectful to Muslims and Mohammed. They might get killed.

Christ went to a wedding…
I would suspect he would have participated in the dances of the time…
He was both fully human and divine, why not break-dance if that was the dance of the day.

I would think if the drawings didn’t show our Lord in a poor light, or with the intent of defamation, then they may be in poor taste for some and perfectly acceptable for others. It is however, IMHO, to decide one way or the other without actually seeing the image something of an impossible task.

I didn’t know people still did break dancing. :rolleyes:

But as to the picture, it isn’t really Jesus. People can call the person in the picture whatever name they want. You can tell the person who says it’s Jesus: “No, that looks more like my Uncle Charlie.”

People do things like that and label the picture Jesus, or Mohammad, or the little kid who sits behind them in 5th grade and annoys the heck out of them. They do it to get a rise out of people. I hope you’re not going to rise to the bait. It simply isn’t worth it.

Click on it to enlarge it. I don’t like this. Jesus is break dancing after Jesus hung on the Cross.

I’M GOING TO DELETE THIS IN AWHILE.

I don’t see anything in the picture (and I enlarged it until it pixeled-out on me) that implies this was/is after he was crucified.

Let me give you another interpretation, and what came to mind when I saw your attachment: highlighted below
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell;
the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into Heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God,
the Father almighty;
from thence
He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body
and life everlasting.
Amen.

Sorry, The Apostles Creed is what came to mind…

well said, its VERY disrespectful, but like normal, most christians do absolutely nothing about it, other than maybe whining a little bit about it online or to their friends. If this had been done with Mohammad’s likeness, 100s of 1000s of muslims would be up in arms over there, demanding someone be fired (if not much more severe things!).

funny thing is, in the OT, God instructs people to literally kill others for very slight infractions, like someone blaspheming God in public,(this probably happens all the time in the US, in every city), so we go from that, to just letting people walk all over us and our faith…??

Ive said it before, at least muslims will stand up and fight for what they believe in. I dont think Ive ever seen a christian defending the faith to this degree.( in modern times anyway, I know they did in the past though).

I have defended the faith for a long time now. And will continue to my dying day.

Prayer was thrown out of schools because the Christians sat back and let it happen. Someone talked about the Muslims defending their Allah and how they defend him.

Plus, we all know that Jesus is Holy- which means He is set apart from us. His is not an image or visage we should play with for the sake of a laugh, or for the sale of an amusing t-shirt if it came to that. And I do believe there was definitely a human side to Jesus that we just seem to acknowledge through The Spirit in unison, but cannot prove through artistic renditions.

Plus, I cannot envision our Heavenly Father breakdancing being omnipotent. Nor should we think He would do it. God is Most Holy, Most Sacred. Most Revered. Father and Son as I said prior about Jesus is set apart from how we are. Their divinity is abysmal.

(I made a reference to Jesus on the cross because He is drawn with the same clothes or similar wearing painted hanging on the Cross. On the cross, Jesus was to be humiliated all the way. That even meant not wearing clothes. And the Soldiers were casting lots to see who got His clothes.)

I may be just a simple minded woman and to reiterate Jesus will be worshipped and glorified with great and absolute adoration. Never ever will I look at an image of Jesus who was crucified in the worst manner and endured torture for our salvation for entertainment nor approve such a picture. Never will I not defend our Lord. And again, Jesus is to be exalted beyond measure and not to be brought to such a “human” degree that He is degraded. I will defend to the end. Do you know why?

Because Jesus is God also.

God bless all of you, Sheila

Christ did not tell us to go out and kill or injure people if they disrespected him or us for our beliefs.

Matt 5:10-12

10 Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me.

12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Please explain why this came to mind. And Thankyou. Bless you too.

I like it. What’s disrespectful about it? Nothing I can see, except we have never seen Christ artistically depicted like this before.

You know what’s funny? I just answered a thread on music where one poster gave your typical “Would you listen to this if Jesus was next to you?” response.

With the wonderful exception of your post, I’d say the rest of this thread justified my distaste for old-school Christianity. Your thread on allowing oneself to be offended would really apply here wouldn’t you say? 😛

Wish I had seen that thread! I really think that if Jesus were next to me, he’d be singing and stomping along with me to Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” 😃

I do wonder why so many people assume Jesus was/is totally humorless and against having fun. It’s like a revival of Puritanism. :o

There’s certainly a fine line between sinfulness and silliness that 90% of this thread seems to miss. To be honest, the picture just made me chuckle. (The whole concept I’m seeing is kinda cute in a way.)

Ah but, I’m probably gonna get noses down on me and people whispering “Heretic” and the words “Liberal,” “Lapsed,” and “Worldly” thrown behind my digital back. 🤷

Ah well, at least I’m not so easily offended.

My initial reaction to it was that it’s disrespectful. But, I don’t know what the artist’s intention was with it. Perhaps it was an attempt to attract younger people to Jesus? That wouldn’t be my way of doing it, but art is a matter of personal taste.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out what can possibly be offensive about the photo.

Really. :confused:

What is it about it that can possibly be construed as Jesus doing something other than enjoying Himself? Do we think our Savior was not capable of doing a handstand? Or does he somehow remind us of dance moves that we think we’ve seen on people whom we’ve judged to be unholy? What? :confused:

:confused: :confused: :confused:

Of course we have a lot of example of Him not enjoying Himself, whenever He was in the presence of those who seemed to judge Him and His friends every time they looked like they might have been enjoying life. :rolleyes:

Well, for the life of me I can’t figure out why you can’t recognize that people are going to have different sensibilities than you. It’s a matter of personal taste.

If you find no offense in it, that’s ok.

If others find offense in it, that’s ok too.

Different strokes for different folks

You won that round. :cool:

Yeah. People can go ahead and be offended if they want. A central teaching Jesus tried to get through to us, is to quit going around being offended and upset when we don’t like what someone else does. Except for the moneychanger thing, the only times I read about His being upset at people, were with those who were offended by things that might be just about like this, in those times. So yeah if you want to be offended, you have that choice and I won’t stop you. But I will also tell you that being quick to take offense is not only against the Bible, it will stunt your spiritual growth.

I’ve decided that I do like the photo, and since I’ve never had a “profile pic” or “avatar” before, well, now I have them. 👍
