I had just finished my chat with hubby on the computer when I saw something out the window from the corner of my eye… something was on fire and falling from the sky. Freaked me out big time! If it was close I was worried it may set the neighborhood behind me on fire. I thought maybe a part from an airplane or who knws what. Then, it was so big I thought that if it was far away (when i didn’t see any smoke or hear sirens) that it must be huge! One report from an eye witness has it at about the size of a HOUSE.

Of course, being home alone my imagination started running a little wild… was a bit scared that little green men might peek in my windows:eek:… or worse, that I was finally losing my mind from sleep deprivation and had started hallucinating:o

Not long after it was on the news so at least I knew I wasn’t crazy…still kept an eye out for little green men, but I’m not nuts:D

My dad is going to be so upset that he missed it. He LOVES this kind of stuff.

Me too. I was no where near a window at the time it happened. Most likely was at Wal-Mart with my husband, something we don’t do often but we had both eaten dinner, the girls weren’t home from school yet (college students, remember) and he was talking about maybe needing a multi-vitamin so I suggested we go out and check them out. Then we wandered through the grocery area and picked up a few things.

P.S. Let us know if there are any more news on this. It is interesting to say the least! Nothing on the news down here about it and I am pretty much straight south of you ;).

I can’t get the video to play:(
Me either. All I get when I click on it is the bottom part of a video - the line showing how things are loading and then playing - aaaargh.

At least we got a little more info. about your sighting 👍

Nechasin - thanks that was awesome.

Malia - I can see how you were worried about little green men!

Especially being so tired and stressed the mind isn’t functioning very well:shrug:…I was almost hoping for little green:bounce: men as opposed to my imagination. Rather be invaded than crazy:whacky:

If it was as bright as you say it was, they would have been barbecued little green men 😛

Back when my security job had me working nights, I would go thru stretches when I would see at least one meteor a week. Nothing really bright, tho.

Would that be crispy or extra crispy little green men?

Excellent sighting. I once saw a comet change night to day for about 30 seconds, but it was the seventies. I had to check the news the next day. It really did happen, what a relief. :jrbirdman:

I’m from Saskatchewan, people saw it here too. I’m taking an astronomy class at the University of Saskatchewan right now, so we talked about this yesterday. It most likely (almost completly 100%) its just a big chunk of stuff from the asteroid belt. My prof said that people always think it happened close by, but its probably very very far away (its the extreme brightness that makes people think its closer). It was probably around the size of a basketball. The extreme brightness is due to the energy turned into heat when the object has to slow down in our atmosphere. It most likely burned up before getting close to hitting the Earth.

WOW.

We had a meterorite hit south of Denver, when I lived there (1998), in a very rural area. I believe it landed about 5 miles from my house… it felt like an explosion! Fortune hunters were out looking for it. It was found by a boy and his mother, on their property, and weighed 480 g.

Exciting times!

Don’t worry-you’re not nuts. The incident over western Canada has been in the news. Zillions of people saw it. Man, I wish I could have…Roanoker
